What’s so frustrating is that it’s so clear that most of the GOP get what’s going on - they know what he is doing to the country.
Over at Rawstory they keep getting excited that Corker is going to file for Impeachment or a 25th amendment removal. If that was so, what is he waiting for?
Fucking GOP knows this is destroying the country and the GOP and still they do nothing.
I disagree there. I think Dems have a very good shot at the House. In the Senate, I don’t think a single Dem incumbent loses. We’ll have a decent to good shot to take NV, AZ.
Well it looks like Cy-Fair is going to lose a cut-and-dried civil lawsuit over this. (It’s a big, fairly well-off suburban school district which has already been in hot water over racial disparity/civil rights issues.)
Well, obviously arguing some things you agree to before accepting employment is an issue however, I do think litigants against this now have stronger footing. There is no achievement the employer is seeking by enforcing this position. Trump’s behaviors are close to interference with contracts. I think the initial limitations of that holding can be and will be , and possibly have been, argued to apply broadly. I am also aware of the public , as in govt, vs private ER aspect. I think the NFL, NBA, etc will be tied up in litigation for years if they start down this path and any future players association contracts negotiations will be a mess. Lebron James might say he will stand but if he changes his mind, is he going to be benched? Cut?
I am so fucking tired of people who think it can’t be done. We both know how control can flip. Dallas and Harris Counties come to mind. Even with “questionable” boundary lines, when people get off their “Mistee, Frostee, Slurpee drinking asses, their fat feet overflowing cheap plastic flip flops, their babies sneezing Fudgsicle juice,” control can flip.
The NFL dictates the color of a player’s socks. Sock color has no effect on performance or achievement. Yet the NFL legally maintains control over this issue.
Well, some of the equipment restrictions are due to sponsors. Also I think uniformity on the field ( ETA or on the court) makes sense , especially in sports like the NBA & the NFL, when players are diving for loose balls, recovering fumbles, intercepting and making passes, you see the colors of your team. I see some validity in that, I see none in a before the game activity,
Funny Twitter Thread - click - to read not just the post, but the responses. In short - excuse was flying from Las Vegas back to DC - Indiana was on the way (a shorter trip) and the game had been on the Veeps schedule for weeks.
Responding tweets jab about geography - how Indianapolis is so conveniently between Las Vegas and the Los Angeles fundraiser he flew to after leaving the game early.
This is only a fraction of the cost. Whenever the POTUS or Veep travel, their armored limos (there’s always 2 for backup reasons) must be transported on military aircraft in and out plus how many other support vehicles?
–Then there is the cost of closing highways to and from the venue.
–The cost of the Secret Service securing the football stadium. Everyone had to go thru magnetometers, etc.
– An advance team arrives at least a couple days in advance to get the stadium ready, determine motorcade routes etc.
The point is that the cost is astronomical, and while it’s necessary to secure our leaders, it’s not necessary for cheap political stunts.
The exact cost needs to be determined and Pence and Trump need to answer for it.
