Cruz saw a chance to grift on Carson’s supporters and never thought twice about whether it was ethical or would be later called cheating. In the GOP, what the Cruz camp did was the typical method of operation and a tribute to the “honorable” legacy of Richard Nixon and Dick Cheney’s WMD arguments.

Lying comes naturally to Cruz. Jumping on an opportunity to stab a black and/or a fellow Christian Right fraud in the back is purely sublime. May he burn in Cuban Canadian *ell.

Poor Joe/Ted. After Joe died, and was karmically demoted to slime mold, then flatworm, then flea, then dung beetle, then cockroach, then worm, then jellyfish, then rat. he finally worked his way up to weasel-human hybrid as “Ted.” But this life probably throws him all the way back to protozoa again.

Some, perhaps, but the core attraction to Cruz for many Cruz adherents is his absolutely focused, bloodless drive for authoritarianism. if a lie, manipulation, deceit, fraud can be used, effectively to achieve that end, collateral damage is just so much detritus. they are in a war—a war against democracy, against religious pluralism, against self-determination for women, and so on—and when you are in total war, any means is permissible.
