The DPRK Twitter is hilarious. Too bad it’s fake DPRK.
To paraphrase Hobson, “One must usually go to a bowling alley to meet a President of your stature.”
You’re aware that DPRK_News is a parody Twitter account and has no connection (other than its name) to North Korea, right? In fact, it’s consistently very, very funny, funny enough that I follow it.
Here’s the link to the English translation of the DPRK’s official Twitter account. If you click on the links in the posts it will take you to the official government news releases. Translate them to English for the hysterically funny reads.
Oh
(Just added it to my follow… )
As said above… nope. Actually I’d never seen their tweets before.
"of course Nixon kept his base.
let’s look at what else happened in the 13 months between July 1973 and August 1974:
Nixon addressed the country on the energy crisis, increased Social Security benefits, and increased the minimum wage by $2. "https://millercenter.org/president/richard-nixon/key-events
I don’t see Trump doing anything like that.
But just think of the ratings!!!
Fascism has arrived.
Part of living in the USA is the constant risk of catching a stray round as our citizens conduct business while armed and dangerous. Only a sicko wacko would encourage this to happen again. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/shot-live-tv-news-broadcast-virginia-article-1.2337586
I’ve been linking to this article lately, glad you read it. It’s got everything we need to know. Like Nixon, trumpp will bring himself down, and we need to be patient.
First I’ve seen that quote by the late Azimov, but what he describes goes way back. Probably started as rural vs city folk then became normalized in one segment of our society.
We’ve already seen in Pizzagate an incitement to violence. The Trump campaign pushed this incitement relentlessly. It ended with violence when a crazed believer shot up the pizzeria. The Trump campaign was only sorry that Hillary and John Podesta weren’t in the line of fire.
I’m gonna start with hoping that voters will learn to recognize that this is a disaster.
The recognition is clear on the liberal side. The women’s march and the march for science and the strong showing by liberals at town halls and on the phone lines is not something we’ve seen for many years.
I’m not yet satisfied that Trumpp’s disastrous performance has broken the partisan bond on the right. Polls of registered voters still show him with low-to-mid 40s approval. Polls of all adults show high 30s to low 40s. That’s only a little worse than you would expect to see from a strictly partisan divide. If he drops another 6-8 points, I’d be satisfied that there had been some real damage done to Trumpp’s support from GOP voters.
I think we need to be relentless. Trumpp doesn’t give a shit what we say or do, but every Representative is up for a vote next year. We can make some of them – enough of them – care.
Summer of 2018 could be when we see something change in the demeanor of the cowards in the Congress. His hardcore base is too small to waste their efforts to keep them happy, but the thought of being unemployed (before a lobbying firm reaches out to them) would scare the bejeezus out of them.
This ignorance is a feature, not a bug. The more educated, the more likely to vote Democrat. It is no accident that Republicans have been cutting education budgets for decades.
Have stations airing Rush’s show picked up again? Last I heard advertisers were dropping him, and thus stations were dropping him.
It’s his MO. Back during the campaign I literally lost sleep worrying about the physical safety of Katy Tur. Lots of crazy people out there and Trump aims his dog whistling straight at them.
I don’t know if enough people know just how viciously he treated her. She became so fearful at one rally she had to be escorted out by police. I admire her for not taking his abuse personally, that she was just another journalist covering a narcissistic, angry guy, but it also revealed his lies about respecting women more than anybody in the world.
The GOP and evangelical strategists learned from the mistakes of a similar party, the No Nothings (from Wikipedia):
The Native American Party, renamed the American Party 1855 and commonly known as the Know Nothing movement, was an American Nativist political party that operated nationally in the mid-1850s.
Know Nothings were an anti-Catholic and anti-immigrant nativist party, emphasizing purity of elections by blocking “impure” foreigners. In most places it lasted only a year or two, then disintegrated because of weak local leaders, a lack of nationally prominent leaders, and a deep split over slavery. Many ex-members voted Republican when the Democrats embraced immigrants. The party is remembered for anti-Catholicism, based on Protestant fears that Catholic priests and bishops would directly control a large bloc of voters. In the South, it gave much less emphasis to Catholicism.
