The purpose of a slap suit is to run up a defendant’s costs to a point that an aggrieved person won’t say anything detrimental about a corporate bully. Filing suit is SOP for some corporations regardless of a claim’s merits. Once a suit is filed quick settlements is often the result when the plaintiff is much bigger than the defendant and not at all concerned about the costs of litigation. The slap suit works well for corporations in a business environment, but this is politics. I bet the Club for Growth is praying for a lawsuit.
This is one of the few times that in a battle between tow parties in a lawsuit I am rooting for the lawyers to win collecting huge fees from both.
