Manafortās entire defense didnāt last an hour and a half, so I donāt think theyāll have much trouble keeping the closing arguments under that.

The alt-right scenario: The jurors file into the deliberation room. One of them pulls a MAGA hat out of his coat pocket, puts his feet up on the table, and says, āVote all you want, libs, but Iāve already deliberated and this is a mistrial.ā Then he pulls the hat down over his eyes, crosses his arms, and soon begins to snore.
(I have been assured in another forum that this canāt happen, because such a juror would be kicked out for lying during voir dire. Oh, I hope thatās true. Because it only takes oneā¦)

Given the comments of the judge over the course of the trial, I donāt think it is clear that this will be a quick verdict, or even that there will be guilty verdicts. This jury could very well hang, since the judge has telegraphed his skepticism about the governmentās case. Remember, it only takes one juror to prevent a verdict. One other point, if the jury does hang, guess who gets to decide whether or not there will be a retrial when the defense makes the inevitable motion to dismiss? Hello Judge Ellisā¦
