Discussion: Clinton Won't Apologize For Private Email Use: 'What I Did Was Allowed'

Correct, and the only other politician who ever did this is Jeb Bush. And if he gets the nomination, it will indeed be an issue. If it’s Jeb vs. Hillary, the issue becomes moot since they were the only two politicians to ever set up a private server for their own gov business, so they both get equal criticism.

Correct. Only politicians to do that are her and Jeb Bush. And if Bush is the nominee, he’ll get the same questions she is getting, as he should. But for now he is way behind, and Hillary is the front runner.

The mere suspicion of something nefarious in the deletion of her personal emails is what this whole “scandal” is about so far as there has been no finding of any criminal behavior. There is no review process that would have satisfied the partisans intent on derailing Clinton’s campaign and speculation about what their content was will no doubt fuel conspiracy theories for decades. I believe that even public officials are entitled to a private life and I can’t blame her for not wanting a bunch of hacks with axes to grind trolling through her personal emails.

WTF sort of silly attempt at logic is that?? Everybody gets a pass on everything until they are top in the polls? JEB’s emails problems include actually breaking Florida law, but in your universe, we should be nice to the guy with the biggest war chest, because he is down in the polls?? Or perhaps you just feel generally that IOKIYAR?

No, it’s called political strategy. Right now the Republicans want to take down Hillary since she is the front runner. If she was not running, this is a non-story.

If you are a Democrat, you do NOT want to bring up Jeb now. If you do and he gets the nomination, it will be “old news” during the general election campaigns. You want that story fresh. If it’s Jeb against Hillary, Hillary’s story is old news at that point, and all of a sudden Jeb’s email thing, which is exactly the same thing Hillary did, becomes a story.

It’s all about timing. This was going to come up, and even SHE must have known that. So you get it over with now. You don’t want this coming up in Sep of 2016 as a “new” story.

True, but there are certainly review processes that would be more transparent than the one she chose (as I suggested in my previous comment) and which would have left a smaller, more readily dismissible group of partisans to question whether there was “something nefarious in the deletion of her personal emails.”

Not accepting your premise that only Hillary and Jeb had their own servers or that Jeb will get the same treatment as Hillary. So there is a Republican House committees in place to look into Jeb’s emails? I don’t think so but nice try at irrational rationalization for investigating all things Clinton on the taxpayers dime.

Of course not. Obviously the House is partisan, that’s not the issue here.

Please show me in any of my posts where I rationalized these investigation, because I never did. The one thing I have been saying, and it’s STILL true, is that what she did was stupid, and has hurt her. It looked bad. THAT has been my consistent point, and it’s 100% true still.

What other politician has?

I never said that either. I said the time for Democrats to go into attack mode on this issue was during the general election with Jeb as the nominee, it’s far better political timing, and any strategist would say that.

So please don’t make up stuff you think I said. When I say Hillary did something dumb, I am not saying it justifies investigations, was a crime, etc. I mean she did something dumb. And even she is realizing that now.

The House is an issue because they are in perpetual pursuit of Hillary with one unwanted needless investigation after another that lead nowhere. It does get in the news and they use it to persuade people like you who cannot see the facts for the clouds.

So we know about the servers used by all the other candidates. I don’t think so. We only found out about Hillary’s because the House sought her emails. ’

Really? All I have said is that what she did was dumb and has hurt her. And I am 100% correct based on her poll numbers. I never said what she did was illegal, etc. I said it was dumb. And even SHE is saying that now. To think Republicans would not jump on this was…dumb.

I would note most people are laughing at the joke Benghazi investigation. Only the FOX wingnuts think there was some kind of conspiracy there. None of those nuts would ever vote for Hillary anyway, so that whole thing is a joke. But many centrist voters were not pleased with her setting up a private server…and that actually did happen, that’s not a conspiracy theory. And it looks bad. And it was dumb.

Jeb and Hillary. That’s it. Name another one. You do realize that when people get an email from you, your email address appears, yes?

Thanks for clarification of your position. Dumb? This is where we differ. Maybe it is dumb because it gave the wingers and the media something to hyperventilate over.
Technically, I would not call it dumb. It was more secure than the much targeted and yes hacked state department server. Most people using email realize it is not a secure way to correspond, regardless of the server. The emails indicate an awareness of this.

The media and their reporting on this display a glaring lack of understanding of the workings of email.

Her decision to apologize was political and not because she had done anything worthy of investigation of anyone other than a Clinton.
