Duke and Taylor are likely supporting Trump, because they can’t see him as lying in regards to this issue. Trump said that as president, he would advocate building a wall along the Mexican border. Upon hearing that, Duke nearly collapsed on account of ‘the vapors’.
Those who’d focus on that issue, potential hyperbole in the ad, are not at all those who the ad is designed to reach. This ad is to remind white women Suburban voters who Trump really is, it’s to kick those Bernie or Busters in the face and remind them who and what they may be voting for by not voting or voting for someone other than Clinton, it’s also designed to remind voters of color just what’s at stake in case we’ve gotten complacent, and it’s a subtle slap at the media to get them to notice that there’s something far more important than her emails going on in this election.
OK, it says it was paid for by the campaign but does it need an “I approve this message” message?

This ad is about as good as that other ad they did with Delirious Don going off on a complete nut, while little children watch him make an fool of himself by saying the most vile things, unimaginable by any candidate ever running for President of this country, until now.

True, but I don’t see even potential hyperbole in the (excellent!) ad. Maybe David Duke won’t have a position in a Trump administration but if there is any important distinction between his views, the views of the KKK, and those of white nationalists generally it would take an academic study to reveal them. For all intents and purposes this is the viewpoint of the people with whom Trump has aligned himself. I am very happy to see Hillary’s campaign making that clear.
They could have just as well used video from numerous Trump rallies with the the racist signs and t-shirts all over the place.
I just wish this was more than just a web ad. More need to see it on national TV, if it was cut shorter.

This would be smearing if not a fact. But it IS a fact. Note to the media: Challenge Trump to publicly and unequivocally disavow all those white supremacists and fire their campaign CEO. Start doing your job already.
Absolutely. Trump may disavow ambiguously Duke and those other guys you mention, but it is impossible to disavow someone he appointed to run his campaign. The guy has tweeted every racist synonym pejorative there is for “black person”, and he is not just a guy, he is Trump’s alter ego.
Not JUST Trump. This is an important point, and can’t be stressed enough by Hilary and the Democratic Party. The people whom you see in this ad ARE the GOP. The dogwhistles have been set aside. Trump et al. are going for broke, hoping that enough people in white robes come to the polls.
Great ad, if their internal polling shows its a good attack then we might see something like this show up in a fuller TV ad. Trump is not going to be allowed to get away from tying his campaign to the alt right and then at the same time try to pretend it has no idea what they are and do his fake “outreach” to minority groups.
And it should be noted that Mark Burns is the anti-Semite who said that Jew Bernie Sanders needed Jesus.
They need to turn it into one. First, add in some of the comments about Mexicans being rapists and murderers, and then I believe there’s also some video of him mocking Chinese businessmen and they should add that. I would then run it over and over and over again in large markets. Do not allow those Suburban women, Bernie or Busters, or anyone else to get away with thinking for a moment “maybe Trump’s really not that bad”. That kind of complacency is one of the things that scares me most about this election.
Its a web video so she doesn’t have to. That rule applies to TV and radio ads from the McCain/Feingold Campaign Finance Law and did not include the internet. They tried to amend the law and extend it through the DISCLOSE ACT in 2010, following the Citizen’s United SCOTUS decision. The DISCLOSE ACT passed the House but not the Senate. Guess who did everything to block that law? All the Rs…it couldn’t get a 60 count cloture vote. It had 59…all of them were the Democratic Senators.
Maybe Pastor Mark Burns should start doing God’s work and leave Trump to Trump.
Make no mistake - huge numbers of Trump supporters want exactly this! They want a strongman who will crush all of the minorities - especially the ones that they see as un-American.
