Discussion: Clinton Shifts Focus To General Election In NY Primary Victory Speech

As she should!

I just heard a Sanders supporter on the radio locally say, in a general election she would vote for the racist, homophobic, misogynistic, mammon worshiping, xenophobe Donald Trump. Some modern liberals are really awful twits.

It’s the correct time to pivot. The Democratic nominating process is all over but the shouting.

Unfortunately Sanders is not going to pivot. He is going to fight on until the convention probably trashing the future nominee all the way there. Not helpful at all except to his own ego and ambitions.

Listening to Secretary Clinton made me once again so proud to be a Democrat.

It’s possible, but only if he turns to the Dark Side and does what his campaign manager might be cooking up. I’m still hopeful enough that he sees the reality of the situation and (while he may keep going until June), end up supporting Clinton when she wins the nomination. I like to believe that part of the reason he went negative is partially due to the bad advice people like Jeff Weaver are giving him, and partially frustration on his part.

But time will tell, and we’ll see.

Sanders voters will vote for HRC in the general. Especially once they witness the cluster -**** that will be the Republican convention. Heck, independents will likely massively tilt Democratic if the likely Republican implosion occurs.

Heck … I’m pretty sure there will be a number of GOP defections ! —

I’d like to believe that’s not true, but I’m really not so sure. The good news is that if he goes that route he’s probably going to lose the unions endorsing him, some superdelegates, and the majority of his supporters who simply preferred him over Clinton but don’t hate her and would actually be quite happy with her as the nominee. Plus, those who in the party who’ve helped to coddle him, those who know where the bodies are buried will start to bring out the shovels and the maps. I don’t believe there are too many people in this party who are going to put up with a kitchen sink strategy going forward.

So…who’s the chair of “Republicans for Hillary”?

She keeps trying to shift to the general election, but the Sanders supporters won’t let her. They refuse to give up. I suspect he’ll still be campaigning until at least mid June. He’ll be telling his supporters that it’s possible to win 400 delegates in the DC election, and they’ll believe him. They’ll insist that it’s a media conspiracy to say the DC only has 20 delegates and that the DNC is holding out on them.

Going to vote for whomever gets the nod. But sick and tired of the holier than thou attitude from both camp’s supporters.

Why should Sanders stop running? if he believes he has a possible path, remote as it may be, and he believes in his platform and he is the right person to lead, why should he stop?

As for the “trashing the future nominee”… You are drinking the kool-aid repeating that crap. Neither are remotely innocent. Neither are that dirty this year.

Please work out the MATH on this possible scenario and let us know — I, for one, would be very interested in it –

( instances of Hillary quitting and/or dying are exempted ) …thanks —

I would be greatly surprised if Bernie dropped out of the race before the rest of the states get their chance to vote. But no matter what Comic Book Guy (Jeff Weaver) says, I would also be surprised if the Sanders campaign really tried to overturn the outcome of the pledged delegate race by somehow swaying a super-majority of superdelegates to his side (which has approximately zero chance of happening, by the way). I do think they will want to hang in there to win every vote and every delegate they can, including in California (where unaffiliated voters can vote in the Democratic primary).

I’m sick of the “they will/won’t vote for” noise. And that’s what it is: Noise.

When push comes to shove everyone will coalesce around anyone who can beat Drumpf. (With a few thousand dollars Ira’s Dad could take out all the Rethugs and, probably, a Hillary or two.) What can you say?

Because he’s probably doing more harm than good and further entrenching his dumbest, most privileged, naive supporters into the Bernie or Bust camp. He’s simply deluding people, and at some point it’s simply wrong to continue on that path. If he were fighting on as the happy warrior I don’t think anyone would begrudge him, but he’s not. He’s still out there lying to people, trashing Clinton, weighing down her negatives with bullshit innuendo and Republican talking points, and hindering her ability to raise money for other Democrats. None of this is good. He’s been a massive net negative.
