Discussion: Clinton Maintains Razor-Thin Lead Over Sanders In New National Poll

Discussion for article #246093

So, no change. Apparently Quinnipiac’s filtering is different from other pollsters for whatever reason given that their last two show a “dead heat” but all of the other polls over the same periods show something like 10 points difference or so between them.

If one were perhaps a bit cynical, we could note which poll makes front page news when it drops for some reason.

Loved your choice of the image to go with this story, TPM. No slant there.

I’m surprised it didn’t come with a caption of, “Would you vote for THIS man?”

No.

The margin of error is twice as wide as the supposed difference.

That is not a “gulf”, it’s a “gap”.

A horse race huh? LOL!

These national polls are really worthless. I wish we could get one of the polling companies to either prove or disprove the “Sanders Electability” question by doing state specific polls measuring both candidates against the R field. Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Florida, Colorado (as swing states), California and New York (firewall states). Neither Hillary nor Bernie is going to win anything south of the Mason_Dixon (except perhaps FL) or have any real shot at flyover country (IA, NE, SD, ND, WY, OK, KS, etc.). But look at the Bush v. Gore map and see if one candidate or the other (at least today) would swing the EC in the Dems favor.

I’m sorry but I just don’t and have never felt the Burn. In my opinion he is unelectable. A tax raising socialist? Republicans would have a field day with him and could even get Trump elected.

Hillary Clinton has her own electability question. I’d really like a poll of Republicans to quantify how much a Clinton on the ballot will motivate them to get to the polls to vote against her. (And then ask whether her stand for gun control makes them more likely or less likely to show at the polls.)

One can only hope that Alito’s death and Republicans blocking all attempts at confirming a replacement will be even more motivating for Democrats; now we already know the next president will appoint at least one Supreme, it’s not just an inside baseball concern for those who are paying attention.

While Republican hatred of Clinton and her stand on gun control plays against her and her alone, the Supreme Court issue will play for any Democratic nominee.
