Discussion: Clinton: I'm 'Sympathetic' To Trump Voters But Not Trump's 'Dog Whistles'

I’m not sympathetic to those who have been voting against their interests since Reagan.

Lost your job? Retrain. Where is it written that the world owes you a living?

With all due respect, Drumpf isn’t using a dog whistle, he’s using a bull(shite)horn. Any nastiness that arises from fertilizing that poisonous crop isn’t due any sympathy.

One of the rewards of being a Clinton supporter is knowing that your candidate is always logical, reasonable, thoughtful, knowledgeable, and articulate. And caring.

What’s depressing about being an American these days is seeing that so many of your fellow citizens don’t give a damn about all that.

said the dog whistler in chief …

Unfortunately, an awful lot of retraining programs have turned out to be run by incompetents, poorly planned or poorly executed. People are trained for jobs that turn out not to exist. Or so many are trained that all of a sudden there are too many newly-trained graduates of programs applying for too few jobs. And in almost all cases, even those who are retrained successfully find that their new jobs pay substantially less than the old ones. There may be no way to avoid the dislocations of our rapidly changing economy, but it’s foolish (or even a lie) to pretend that that makes everything right for the victims of that change.

Oh, believe you me, I can recognize one from a mile away … even farther if they’re online. I can smell a steaming pile as well. If you need help, just let me know. More than happy to point you in the right direction.

I see you’ve lost none of your charm & wit - or tired Clinton Derangement Syndrome.

I’m sure that Hillary is sympathetic to the people to whom Trump appeals. And that she supports programs to meet real problems in ways that will really help. But she–and Democrats generally–are not nearly as effective as they could be at showing the public why those programs offer the most hope for people who have lost out in economic and social change. But fortunately, she gets to run against Donald Trump.

You have nothing. You know nothing, and you are nothing.

She’s going to be President for eight years, you will fume and writhe in impotent fury, and I will be glad.

It would have been helpful to build a culture that encourages children to focus on developing maturity, knowledge, thinking ability and trade skills instead of rap, sports, humping and collegiate extended adolescence.

Sometimes I wish Sanders hadn’t ignored the South and did all that he could to avoid being a Fabian alternative.

Then it would be Trump vs Sanders and

this idea could be fully tested…

I’m not directing this post to one particular Sanders supporter, but right now I’d love to see if I was right.

It was a very, very good reply. Reasonable, rational, easily understood by anyone not blinded by a terminal case of idiocy and hatred (like darcy).

This is the kind of thing that will make Trump and his Trumplings go crazy. They can’t really answer with an equally reasonable, rational reply. So back they go into the ā€œPits of Bullshiteā€ (Trump TM) to dig up more stupidity, racism, misogyny, and bigotry. Then they’ll ineffectively hurl that crap at her, only to see it land on that pit that separates them (crazy feces throwing chimps) from the rest of us.

Actually what you describe is a Democratic voter whether they are Hillary supporters or Bernie’s.

I agree with a previous commenter that there is no dog whistle in Tronald’s armory, it’s all bullhorn. I give him credit for that, he does not hide behind niceties … most GOP types adorn their cesspool of ideas with doilies and lace.

In many ways Tronald Dump is the Apocalyptic candidate. Apocalypse means the unveiling or uncovering and that’s what he is doing, showing the innards of the Republican party and what there really are and what they really stand for. For that I salute him … having said thata I will never NEVER vote for a man that probably does not know the difference between Lunch Codes and Launch Codes.

I’m sympathetic to these people because a lot of them did ā€œthe right thingā€: they got jobs, they worked hard, and then some guy typing a few character on a keyboard a thousand miles away decided their lives were going to be turned upside down (often at a net loss to the company that guy-with-keyboard worked for, but that’s another matter). That ought to get people angry, especially when the decisionmakers don’t face the same risks that the ordinary people do. But Trump, like the rest of the GOP, is deliberately aiming supporters’ ire in the wrong direction.

The other day the 7-year-old pointed out a ā€œGo Trumpā€ banner by the side of the road (from a not-very-well-maintained house), and I told him I felt sorry for the people who put it up, because they were supporting a man who did not have their best interests at heart.

Hillary may actually be sympathetic to the Trump crowd and not just being polite? She is teaching kindness in the face of unkindness. Turning the other cheek and having hope even for the hopeless.

That said, following Trump gets you labeled with a giant L on your forehead and a total loss of credibility.
I remember seeing Romnerd/Ryan stickers on a few cars and as soon as they got pummeled, those were gone. There are still more McCain/Palin stickers around.
Point is, those suckers bailed and pretended not to be the fools that they were and so will go the exodus of Trump/? supporters after the sound thrashing come November.

And I’m on the wagon that says that these aren’t ā€˜dog whistles’. Trump is openly hating and demeaning many groups. The only dog whistle is the white superiority underlying tone that attracts all that crowd to him. Otherwise, he just says things out loud about other races and genders.

As always, you are 100% wrong—and you cannot offer any proof to support your risible smear of Hillary.
