Discussion for article #246386
Because they like the other guy’s program more.
Because we are tired of you and would like to move beyond the Bush and Clinton families running the country.
a) Because young people aren’t as stupid as she wants them to be.
b) Because young people wonder how she can have so many failures and still fall upwards
c) Because young people can see the long long list of foreign nationals, plutocrats and ne-er-do-wells that have lined up to support her
d) Because young people know who Henry Kissinger is and are disgusted by her admiration and friendship with him
e) Add your own
Because for the vast majority of their lives they’ve been bombarded with made up scandals about the Clintons.
Assuming people get into politics at the age of 16 (this should probably be higher, but that would make the case even stronger), anyone born after 1984, i.e. anyone younger than 31, has spent their politically aware lives after Bill Clinton’s presidency. The only Clinton stuff they’ve heard since then is 1 negative after another, largely promoted by the Republicans. Even if this hasn’t affected them consciously, it’s almost certainly affected them sub consciously. Anyone under the age of 35 basically developed their political consciousness post the Lewinsky years.
I’ve mentioned this before, but it’s amazing how much more of an effect Republican anti-Clinton propaganda has had on Dems over Republicans.
…well she isn’t running for president as Mrs. Claus (without any hope of ever [delivering] on the promised gifts.)for one thing.
There are hardly any differences in the actual outcomes their programs will deliver.
The only difference is Sanders is promising things he knows he cannot deliver, while Clinton is not.
Promising Free College goes a long way in getting college-age people to vote for you. Of course, if you actually look at Sanders’ plan, you see that it has no chance of passing. In public, he says Wall Street will pay for it, but that’s not true. The state’s have to cover one-third of the tuition costs. How are they going to do that without raising taxes?
Yeah, that Free College program has been very successful at doing what it was designed to do – get young people to support Bernie.

[/quote]How so? And where is the whole problem of the fact that Hillary Clinton never met a war she didn’t love?
@seedeevee, you modern libs are sounding more like republican everyday – must be why some of you have the republican candidate as your second choice for pres.
One of the more interesting things is that Sanders’ campaign claims they will be able to achieve the impossible because his campaign will excite so many people to come out and vote that they will flip congress.
The reality, however, is that the Sanders campaign is raising almost no money for those down ticket candidates, and unlike Presidential elections, money likely plays a huge role in the lower profile non-Presidential elections. The Clinton campaign on the other hand is giving these candidates a much better chance by raising cash for them.
In addition, I don’t see why new Sanders voters would vote for Democrats, when the campaign is against all teh current popular Democratic President’s biggest achievements (Obamacare, Financial reform).
Interesting that the young questioner did not offer why she is supporting Sanders. Hillary is very specific about how she will help and with a large college debt already Sanders free tuition will not help.
I do not know Sanders plan or if he has one for existing college debt.
I do know his so called wall street program is bogus and does not address the actual situation.
I thought she gave a great response to this question. I loved it when she said that she would do everything to support this young lady, even if the young lady didn’t support her. She was kind and personable and engaging in a way that rarely gets reported. She also had actual specifics for what she wanted to do to make college more affordable and how she wanted to do it.
Sanders is a dream opponent for the GOP. He has actually called the Democratic Party “ideologically bankrupt.” If there’s video of that it will be used against every Dem in a Senate race if he’s the nominee.
“Well, I’m not sure, to be honest. I really don’t know,”
I think that’s basically true. I’m sure her team has done plenty of polling and focus groups on the question, but as far as actually understanding why Bernie’s message is resonating so well among young voters and hers is not, I think she’s telling the truth when she says she really doesn’t know.
While this is not the whole answer, I do think it’s an important part of the answer:
I’m sorry if your “modern libs” don’t support the plutocracy. I’m also sorry when the wife of the ex-President of the United States thinks we owe her a coronation.
It would have been nice if the Democratic Party could have come up with more than 3 candidates. But, you know, Clinton Money Talks.
She thinks people owe her a coronation, which is why she’s out there every day giving speeches, presenting her case to town halls, live audience, colleges, and doing pretty much all that needs to be done to win a vote.
Your apparent ability to read Clinton’s mind says more about your biases than anything about her thoughts, IMO.
The truth hurts sometimes. The Clintons are the ones that ideologically bankrupted the Democratic Party, not Bernie Sanders.
If the Democratic Party is truly “ideologically bankrupt” why is Bernie Sanders running for the highest office in the land as a Democrat? If he really believed the Democratic Party was so corrupt, you’d think he wouldn’t want to be associated with it.
“b) Because young people wonder how she can have so many failures and still fall upwards”
Blows my mind.
