Discussion: Clinton Fundraises For Child Victims Of Flint Water Crisis (VIDEO)

Discussion for article #246029

Good for her, using her prominence to get more people to sit up and take notice of what’s happened in Flint. Next, we need to get more attention to other environmental problems afflicting other [mostly] poor people in this country.

(Yeah, cynics: I know this can also help her politically. That’s okay – If more politicians occasionally undertook socially beneficial events, even if only for good press, we’d still have a better country as a result.)

So far, we’ve had Bupkis from Bernie on this critically important issue.

He hasn’t even gone to Flint.

Good for her for doing this but I really hope the Federal government moves to recoup its costs in dealing with Flint by suing the Governor and the rest of his buds that caused this mess.

I agree, the Federal government needs to do its utmost to get Michigan to pay something to fix the disaster it created.

The problem is, Republicans being Republicans, Snyder et al. would probably pay their share for anything by taking monies away from something else that mostly benefits poorer people.

No the L is for Liar.

“One must get up REALLY early to get ahead of this woman.”

Or have no shame to begin with.

Do you realize how ridiculous you sound? Apparently not.

Excellent!

Isn’t that a project for The Clinton Foundation? They have assets of almost $200 Million.

I personally am disgusted at how Hillary exploits the Flint tragedy in the debates. Is there any disagreement that lead poisoning is bad? I want to hear solutions, not moaning about the horrible problem.

Good move. I believe the crisis in Flint, the death of Justice Scalia, and the almost-certain budget crisis to come this year will be game-changers for the Democrats.

“That’s all I can stands, can’t stands it no more”

Christ man, I love ya, but can’t we just set aside the sniping and just give her credit for doing something positive and leave it at that?

I guess the coffee finally kicked in —

What’s next, Chelsea saying Bernie hates poor people?

Edit to add: Cut me some slack, Clunker

If the Foundation came in to help, do you sincerely believe that it would not be slammed for political grandstanding?

And why is it “disgusting” to raise awareness and funds in this instance?

Baked Pears and Prunes with Red Wine Sauce

In this simple dessert, whole pears are baked for hours in a red wine syrup until soft and spoonable. Prunes add depth and complexity to the sauce, so choose the highest-quality you can find for this dish. This recipe calls for Bosc pears, but you can substitute any larger variety of pears, such as Bartlett or D’Anjou.

serves 6

2 hours, 30 minutes

Ingredients

6 large Bosc pears
2 cups red wine
2⁄3 cup sugar
24 large prunes, pitted

Instructions

Heat the oven to 350°. Using a melon baller, scoop from the base of each pear to remove its core and discard the cores.

In a 12-inch shallow saucepan, combine the wine with the sugar and 2 cups water and bring to a boil, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Lay the pears in the syrup, distribute the prunes evenly around the pears, and bake until the pears are tender and the liquid is reduced, about 2 hours.

Transfer the pan to a rack and let the pears cool for 10 minutes in the syrup. Place 1 pear each onto a serving plate and spoon over the prunes and red wine sauce to serve.\

I wonder what The Clinton Foundation is doing while Hillary runs for President. Are they forbidden to do any charity while she is campaigning?
