Discussion for article #244176
To her credit, years ago I attended a science conference regarding acid rain effects. She was there, listening attentively in the audience prior to speaking.
Well, Iâm not a woman, so I donât know what sheâs talking about. (And donât tell me to go talk to oneâŚgirls are scary.)
Over 95% of climate scientists will tell you humans are causing the greater part of the climate change we are seeing. Nearly 200 countries were in agreement in Paris about climate change. Who is in denial? Only the GOP. It reminds me of Orly Taitz and her inability to accept the evidence before her eyes that Obama was born in Hawaii and that there was no conspiracy between his parents in 1961 to make him President.
Theyâd need to get their maps out to find a scientist:
Trump: Why are we listening to a woman telling us what to do? Men know all this instinctively as we are not the bleeding type.
This isnât the first time sheâs used this line â and it bears repeating, because it makes the point.
I believe itâs closer to >99.9% in the case of climate scientists. The percentage keeps going up as the evidence becomes increasingly irrefutable, and alternative explanations are increasingly ruled out â it was ~95% by the late 90s or so
They have talked to scientists. Thatâs part of the problem. They find the select few who refute climate change, and use their testimony as gospel. Itâs the purest example of selective retention imaginable. The documentary Merchants of Doubt covers much of this.
Sheâs a very smart person, and a well-educated one as well. In America, unfortunately, many voters donât like to see that combination in a woman.
To be fair, they donât like that combination in anyone.
Good move by Hillary. One door shuts another door opens. For too long the Democrats have allowed the energy companies control the discussion.
â[W]hen asked if human activity contributes to climate change, many Republican lawmakers respond by saying, âIâm not a scientistââŚ.â
Also:
- Not gynecologists, but experts on womenâs health.
- Not geologists, but experts on a 6,000-year-old earth.
- Not economists, but experts on trickle down.
- Not minorities, but experts on voting rights.
- Not poor, but experts on the minimum wage.
Ignorance never stopped 'em before.
They are also not doctors but that never stops any of them from telling women what to do with their bodies on health related issues.
They arenât women but that doesnât stop them from dictating what we can do with our lady parts.
A really good comeback for her to hit them with during a debate about womenâs health is this:
You refuse to address climate change by throwing up your hands, saying âIâm not a scientistâ, and yet here you are promising to legislate womenâs reproductive health. Is there something youâd like to share with us? Because I am a woman. I AM an expert, and Iâm telling you youâre wrong.
Hell, the next thing you know, Birthing Vessels⢠will want the right to talk back too.
So tell me this: why is it when a Republican speaks, he doesnât just speak he blasts? I mean isnât this just playing into the GOPâs effort to look like they are strong while Democrats are limp and weak.
So when will get to see âHillary BLASTSâ? or even âObama BLASTSâ? My guess: never. They just âdingâ people, apparently and are without power or force in their critiques, right?
People who think that Adam and Eve rode around on dinosaurs in the Garden of Eden 4000 years ago, clearly have no interest in talking to scientists. Especially when it is so easy just to listen to Fox News.
I actually used this VERY SAME RESPONSE on a local republican stumping for votes. The issue was pollution in the biggest local river and when he got backed into a corner by me and a local activist on the subject he said âIâm not a scientist.â
When I hit him with âThen go talk to one,â in a disgusted tone of voice there was a LOT of laughter, which is that key with these guys.
They can spin and duck and finesse any argument. But that one they canât is being laughed at.
