Play it for me again after the election and I might find it every so slightly amusing–and if Trump wins, don’t bother.
I’m guessing you’re not a millennial–I’m not either. And I’m guessing that Zach-what’s-his-face and HRC’s appearance on his show are targeting largely undecided voters who are not like us.
Oooops! Must be Freudian…Too much Don the Con floating around today.
haha! okay.
This was great. She doesn’t have the natural timing of Obama, but her dead- pan and playing it straight was effective.
Everybody Loves Raymond, Big Bang Theory, and John Hodgeman are about as funny as a child’s funeral.
Humor is very subjective, I find Lewis CK boring and not funny at all. I’ve been told a million times by my younger (Millennials) cousins that Lewis CK is hilarious…i don’t get the humor.
You’re right that this is geared towards Millennials and hopefully it did the job, getting them to reevaluate their opinion of HRC and (hopefully) vote for her come November
I’m laughing. This made me laugh. Yep, you summed those shows up perfectly.
Forgive me, plucky, but lately I’ve been a bit humor impaired. Clinton in the White House will cure me of that I suspect. This election has really gotten me twisted up in knots with worry though.
x1000! You are so very right.
Obama appeared on it just as the Obamacare sign-ups were starting and it was very effective in getting younger folks (targetted audience) to participate – was the leading driver for a short time after it appeared… Got a great viral bump (article here) which pushed enrollments over the 6M mark.
Hopefully, Hillary will get a similar bump just by showing up and playing along.
I love the Big Bang Theory those are my people, the awkward, smart, and nebbish.
It’s a comedy, it’s meant to be a spoof which is why it’s on freaking Funny Or Die. The only people who find it offensive to make jokes about Trump’s racism are his supporters. And since when is it a bad idea to poke fun at sexism or racism?
Do we want to revisit when the Big Dog Bill went on Arsenio in 1992 and the outcome of that interview?
I’ll have to go with Die. Comedy is hard, putting so little effort into it shows.
Yeah…if you consider Adam Sandler and David Spade the equivalent of Mark Twain. Zach is right up there with Seth Rogen in terms of humor…which is to say nada.
This is millennial humor. Millennials are obsessed with socially awkward situations, and this show allows them to make fun of it. It’s an acquired taste for those above a certain age, but it works on that level. Obama is a natural s**t talker and he hit Zak back a few times when he did his thing. HRC did the deadpan/eyeroll role perfectly, which is all part of the schtick.
I’m right on the Gen X/Millenial cusp and I don’t get him either. I don’t find him even remotely humorous at all.
I’m not sure that I watch BBT because of the humor. It’s a comfort kind of show. We know these people, some of us have become invested in the characters. I’ve watched one or two episodes of Friends, but I could just never get the feel for it or Seinfeld. I expect, though, it’s the same experience. You feel an attachment to the characters.
I didn’t think the Obama one was funny. I don’t get this kind of humor at all, but I am used to that feeling now. When it comes to millennial humor, I have the same feeling as when someone tells me the French think Jerry Lewis films are the work of an artistic and comedic genius. And it often occurs to me that it’s as if millennials, including my children, were raised in a foreign country.
BTF reminds me of some of the humor shows I’ve seen on Canadian TV - subtle, dry, not “heads up - we’re about to do something funny, so here’s a laugh track to help you out”. IMO, there’s a lot of subversive stuff in this clip, which is one of my favorite forms of humor.
