Dang. Now, that would be one awesome ticket – Hillary Rodham Clinton and Sen. Elizabeth Warren.
The same problem with picking Sherrod Brown here – Baker would get to pick her replacement. Warren is too valuable in the Senate, and the Senate is on the line.
One of the Castro brothers. Southern, accomplished, hispanic.
(No, not Raul or Fidel.)
No Sarah, you attention hog you. Sit down! She does not mean you.
Exactly - plus, having Vice President Warren in the Executive branch might not be as effective as having Elizabeth Warren in the Senate when it’s time to craft policy and get bills passed.
Now, if it were President Warren… but that’s neither here nor there.
Both you and @victorabrahamsen make very good points. Sometimes, I just let myself wander into dream territory. Not often, but sometimes.
The representative from Florida’s 23rd Congressional District? Imagine the furor!
And give up a strong voice in the Senate? Why?
Please, no.
Let me count they ways to say never. Niente. Jamais. Nunca
And this should be yet another reminder – everyone go to the polls in midterm elections!
Julian Castro
@geofu54 If someone had paid you a nickel for every time I’ve voted since I came of age you’d be a very, very rich person.
If only there had been that someone!
By the by, that’s a beautiful photo.
Any Democratic Senator from a state with a Republican Governor should not be on the list when as little as one senator could make the difference between a Democratic or Republican Senate as the Republican Governor would appoint a Republican as the senate replacement.
Amy Klobuchar, maybe. Dayton isn’t up for reelection this year.
Put on the Nom,
Slip on the lid,
Mama’s gonna make
A little short’nin’ list.
I think Gillibrand would be cool. Echoing Bill and Al. Two strong, competent women taking on Trump. If they are running against Trump it doesn’t matter if they are both New Yorkers, and NY would likely elect another democrat in the senate.
There is no chance that Ms. Clinton will nominate a women as VP.
Picking Warren (if she would even be willing to do it) would show that HRC is seriously reaching out to progressives. And VP does not have to be a powerless job – it can be a very influential position if the President trusts that person. I want Warren right in the executive office sharing her expertise and viewpoint – just like Biden has done for Obama. If she picks someone that appears to be a young pretty face – no matter what the potential – its just window dressing. We need a more seasoned and well known person in the role of VP – after all, that person needs to be ready to assume the Presidency. Obama understood this, Bill Clinton understood this and I hope that HRC does too.
