Discussion: Clinton Camp Consulting 'Art Of The Deal' Ghostwriter For Trump Debate Prep

The release is to psych out Don the Con.

Just use Paul LePage as a stand in. Or Andrew Dice Clay. They seem to be on Trump’s wavelength.

They’re definitely psyching him out. I think she’s preparing to wrap him around the axel on policy. His biggest fear is a one-on-one debate.

If the debate moderator and questioners are as inept and enabling as the press in general when dealing with Trump he’s in fine shape.

ā€œMr. Trump, if Mexico stands fast on refusing to pay for your proposed wall will you demand Congress appropriate the funds to construct it?ā€

ā€œArgle-bargleā€

ā€œOK, but will you ask for the money?ā€

ā€œArgle-bargle.ā€

ā€œThank you, we have to move on to the next question.ā€

Instead of holding mock debates as preparation, Trump has been hosting Sunday lunches with some of his advisers, the Washington Post reported.

Undoubtedly these are catered with a hefty uplift in price by tRumb Bistro so he can take twenty percent of the bill.

He pays little EarAche and Ivanka a tidy sum for coaching him in the Art of the Debate. He gets twenty percent of that too!

ā€œHi, I’m Donald Trump. I’m an unhinged lunatic with severe daddy issues and a desperate, desperate need for attention. I may or may not be a total and complete racist, but I sure don’t have a problem cozying up to known and avowed white supremacists. I have the emotional intelligence of a fourth grader and I respond to any slight, real or perceived, with maximum aggression – so by all means, put me in the position of commanding this country’s nuclear arsenal. My actual domestic policies, to the extent I have any that haven’t changed 180 degrees over the last week, are straight-up intended to benefit me personally while driving the country to financial ruin. My lauded business acumen is a farce, the product of hype and showmanship, and the truth is hidden from public view by my refusal to do what every presidential candidate has done for the past 40 years: release my tax returns. If elected president I can guarantee that this country will never recover from the economic, reputational, and probably physical destruction that the next four years will bring.ā€

In my fantasy, this is what Hillary Clinton will open with during her introductory remarks at the first debate…

Yeah…you sound too ā€˜scripted’ when you rattle off those pesky facts, right Donny?

The article gives the impression she’s not even focusing on policy instead she’ll try to get under his skin. I’m betting she takes the opposite approach which, combined with just the right amount of condescension, will get under his skin. The moderators will want to focus on policy.

I’m not sure what to expect from these debates. Clinton does not exactly excel at these things. She is her best when she gets to be the adult int he room. The pragmatist with a plan. The cool head that has an answer for every question. Not exactly inspiring like Obama and certainly not an attack dog like Biden. So I’m not setting my expectations too high. I’m hoping for a middling performance that doesn’t change anything about her position race one way or the other.

Trump pretty much won his primary by dominating the debates and his opponents during those debates, at least for the first segments until he got tired and pretty much closed his eyes the rest of each debate. I think Trump will do well in these debates and will tighten the race. He will bring most of his GOP voters back to the fold, tighten the race, and make us sweat the final stretch into election night.

The media narrative requires it.

Trump claims too much prep would make one seem phony. This from a guy whose supposed brilliant business career is totally phony, whose claims to charitable giving are phony and who has reversed course on nearly every important policy issue over the last 10 years.

How do we know that Trump isn’t preparing? A newspaper story leaked from Trump forces? Well, that certainly is a good source for good information. Not.

The Trump team will likely insist the debate topics be limited to ā€œstuff that isn’t too hardā€.

Bingo.

Add to this the underlying feeling I’m starting to get about Trump’s continuing headfirst dives into no man’s land on so many issues, coupled with the reports yesterday of two voting jurisdictions being hacked. Let’s just say his non-action is starting to feel - to me anyways - like his underlying plan all along isn’t to win this thing fairly, but to use his widely ignored by the media connections to Putin and Russia to just steal it.

It might just be paranoia, but I really truly have NOT been able to shake this feeling. It gets stronger as time goes on and Trump continues to prove himself more and more inept and insulated from reality, while the connections and the hacks continue to go unchecked and unreported. I read yesterday Harry Reid is going to ask for an investigation into the most recent ones on voting systems…so perhaps I’m not as paranoid as I think I am.

As Josh Marshall said the other day, we have no idea who the moderators will be. Marshall also said that it was unprecedented - if I remember correctly - to be this late in the process and not know the moderator selection. He speculated - and I agree - that Trump may well have intimidated the Commission to looking for moderators who are - my words, not Marshall’s - Trump Friendly. My guess is that this is going to be a tough, no holds bared, debate with moderators leaning to Trump and where Trump and the moderators will try to deligitimize Hillary. If she is not prepared to take the fight to him, she will lose.

I stopped at the store for you.

A photo leaked of the debate panel:

Number 5 should work but hitting Donald hard with accusations he’s a loser and nobody respects him will do more damage to him than a wood chipper. Especially if she backs up her relentless needling of him on these points by telling him people like Michael Bloomberg and Mark Cuban are laughing at him. Call him a coward for not making his tax returns public and slam him for being a business failure. These are how to unhinge Donald Trump.

Very cute. Maybe tough questions from Ivanka.

Believe me, have plenty of my own. haha

Don’t think I haven’t questioned myself every damn day on this. But it’s not going away and every day closer to the election that the cheeto faced shitgibbon acts like he really isn’t even trying just leaves me to wonder what he’s got up his sleeve. I mean, this is a guy who has built an entire career out of swindling people…why would this be different?

Do people think the US election system is somehow immune to being swindled? I don’t. I don’t put anything past Trump. Anything.

So yes, I feel like I should be wearing tinfoil. But I still can’t shake the feeling that there’s some nuggets of truth buried in the paranoia.
