I love her comments. Now she needs to pivot a little and embrace a progressive position or two. I think she ought to come out in favor of a $15.00 minimum wage and a solid progressive plan on college tuition.
Both will make Bernie supporters happy without pissing off her supporters.
You mean like agreeing with President Obama on the idea of free tuition for community colleges across the country? Yeah, I agree that would be very good.
The problem with that $15 minimum wage is that according to people who have studied if for years it could have a detrimental effect which would play right into the hands of Republicans who have opposed raising it even a nickle for years.
If you want to get to $12 you don’t start at $12, you start at $15. By starting at $12 Clinton is signaling $10 or less.
Hillary was just projected as the winner in CT. It’s close, but virtually all the remaining votes are from the counties Hillary’s been winning, so her margin will probably go up.
No, certain cities are getting to $15 within the next 5-7 years. Even if she’s at $12 now, the timeline she’s following is realistic to get to $15.
Sanders and Clinton are in agreement about commumity college tuition. Clinton and Sanders aren’t far apart on 4 year tuition but her plan is so wonky a lot of people are reminded of the ACA. They want something simple. That is why Bernie is winning that issue with young people.
The same people who want “something simple” regarding tuition also want free weed. I don’t take a lot of stock in those people. and don’t feel as though I have to.
EDIT TO ADD: Look, free tuition at a four year college most likely isn’t happening. Those same people who want a simplified plan should start with the two year community college level first.

A $15 minimum wage is already happening in a few cities. It’ll be phased in gradually. I’m not suggesting settling for stagnation; it’s happening albeit slowly but surely. These cities can work as a kind of template for other cities in the next few years. I don’t believe that Sanders wouldn’t do a goddamn thing for the national minimum wage. But you know, maybe I’m wrong. Let’s see if he fights for it in subsequent months/years or if he just fades into the woodwork.
Clinton won. Her job now is to woo his supporters.
