Question #1:
Who do you believe is a more effective advocate for truth and justice, Sean Hannity or Lou Dobbs?
If you answered Question #1, please put your pencil down.
Why not seek out Fox viewers? Most have probably never heard the name Manafort. He was only part of the campaign for like 3 minutes anyhow.
Sweet…and one can only hope that they are made to sign them under the penalties and pains of perjury, because I’d bet my left pinky toe that even with a survey, there will be Trumpbots who are willing to lie their asses off to get on that jury and exonerate this fucker. I don’t envy them the lengthy voir dire this is going to require…such a tedious, miserable process.
Faux News will be running with this soon, saying it’s all part of a conspiracy to hand-pick liberal/Dem anti-Trump jurors, when in fact having jurors fill out a form survey is pretty standard and having them fill out a more intense one is obviously sometimes necessary in important publicized cases.
Oh oh. Pick me for the jury. I don’t have an opinion about that lying sack of… No. Really.
Why does the suggested query ask about you/spouse military service, with dates of service?
A refreshing difference. Mueller’s reputation as a straight arrow remains undamaged.
Yet another smart, professional, unbiased, and appropriate move by Mueller. He very wisely plows ahead with his legal duties with no desire or need for fanfare. For that I am grateful.
Totally OT, but here’s some natural disaster porn from Faux News, which has a pretty obvious and predictable fixation with feeding its target audience hope that millions of Californians will one day die horribly and thereby be stricken from the voting rolls:
You are required to be truthful in these, and they will just be the first step…there will still be an interview by the lawyers for jury selection. It’s unlikely that a Trumpbot would get through that without slipping up, while a regular conservative can pass and join. Mueller wants people willing to evaluate the evidence fairly, and this is likely the best way to winnow it down without taking weeks to find 18 people (including alternates) for a jury.
Often, these days, there’s a social media trail to follow.
It’s an old story, regurgitated for the nesting feeble-minded to swallow.
This sounds pretty much standard for a high profile case. Maybe the diff is that the prosecution is doing it. Manafort’s lawyers will probably have their own survey, with the result that no one can get chosen at all.
Given the Don 's penchant for steam rolling the rule of law, it is almost comforting to see things play out in an orderly procedural way…in anticipation for the main event in the months to come.
Absolutely. I suspect this will be about as formal a voir dire as they get, with potential jurors actually taking the stand for questions.
I’m not sure people realize how quickly this case is coming up – in about 4 weeks. And unless I missed it, Judge Ellis has not yet ruled on Manafort’s Motion to Dismiss. You know the one where during the hearing, the Judge asked pointed questions of the prosecution about pressing Manafort to flip on Trump, which got a lot of press at the time. I’m preparing for trial right now in a case set in early September and I’m working on it every day, almost exclusively. Mueller’s and Manafort’s teams must be deep in trial mode as well.
Edited to add:
I just took a look at the Docket on Pacer. Argument on the motions to suppress and a motion to dismiss one of the counts is scheduled for next Friday, June 29. Judge Ellis is still sitting on the motion to dismiss the superseding indictment argued May 4.
That’s a big strategy of Faux News’ actually. They are constantly reposting articles from several months ago in order to build associations between those stories and tenuously related new ones in the minds of Methbilly Nation. It’s why if you ever engage one of these blithering idiots, you feel like they’re ranting totally unrelated, disparate “facts” (some real, some alternative) and stringing them together in this loose, tangential web to arrive at a conspiracy narrative that sounds like something along the lines of what a 5 year old would come up with if told to write a Tom Clancy novel. And like a web, the vast majority of it all is comprised of holes, which they’ve dutifully filled in with delusional nonsense generated by their confirmation biases, prejudices, cultural resentments, abject assumptions and conjecture, whatever beliefs have become popular consensus in their social circles (from which no deviation is permitted lest ye be ostracized) and then positively reinforced by approval and acceptance from said circles when they regurgitate it like a trained seal, etc.
Yep, crossing the 't’s, dotting the 'i’s…
The questionnaire is sworn and signed as such at the end, and there is a reminder at the beginning.
I am confident that Mueller’s team can spot a deplorable from across the street, without him saying one word!
