Thanks for man’splainin’ this to me. It was way over my head. And I’m not even a girl!
The 33-year-old Collier died after her gun accidentally went off while
she was cleaning it, KUSA reported. She left behind her wife and their
two children.
This must be sending tea partiers into a feedback loop. “Good thing. Bad thing! Good person! Bad person!”
WTF!
Even if you hold a sincere belief that your god does not approve of marriage equality, what’s with the overreaction? These nuts act like the mourners brought a contagious case of Ebola into the church, not evidence of a same-sex marriage.
Don’t expect me to treat church people like this with anything but disgust when they claim to be delivering a message of love and forgiveness.
Confrontations from purgatory.
Everyone associated with that sorry excuse for a church should hang his or her head in shame.
actually, they really do behave as if they believe Teh Gay is transmitted by cooties.
Yes, but didn’t the fact that she was a gun owner offset the cooties from her being a lesbian?
not a church. just a collection of assholes.
a real church is about loving, compassion, kindness, forgiveness… totally lacking here.
Young people?
You are right - it isn’t only young people who are disdaining organized religion because of its hypocrisy. (I guess my description was just a reaction to what one sees when one enters a church today - most in attendance are in their advanced years.)
You’re not a girl?!?! you mean to tell me that all these squishy-moist type romantic feelings I done been having about you are gay-type squishy-moist feelings?!
No wonder a significant percentage of young people don’t support organized religion.
Agreed, except that those young people, even if they did like organized religion, won’t provide the money the churches/synagogues/other houses of worship need to pay the bills. Older, more conservative adults do. And even in religion, money talks.
What I want to know is what Bible are they reading? Where in god’s green earth do they get the idea that Jesus would not have gone to a funeral like this? Heck, He would have presided over it! These folks are creating a God in their image…and their image is pretty damn ugly.
Just take away their tax exemption since they don’t support the community anymore. That’ll change their religious viewpoint, for sure.
But the church had no problem with her being an irresponsible gun owner who tragically killed herself and caused her family a lot of trauma? They would have allowed a photo of her with her gun I suppose?
Also, if she was married, they knew she was a lesbian already. They did not expect photos of the two of them together in a family video? Seriously?
Additionally, while it is their right not to show their regular parishioners such a thing, these people were family and friends. Totally different. It was a private service. Unless the church had a written policy that was given to the family beforehand that stated such things being prohibited, the family might actually have lawsuit potential. But ridicule of the church might suffice, people need to get on their case about this.
