Discussion for article #229228
project much, Chuck (not my job) Todd
“the best angle, the quickest hit, the biggest embarrassment.”
Kind of like where TPM has been heading.
I like TPM, but story writing has been replaced by quick paragraphs linking to other websites.
Reminds me of a doodle I use to hear when I was a kid.
If a woodchuck could chuck wood
how much wood could a woodchuck chuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood.
Seems to fit ole chucky here.
His statement about Grimes being “disqualified” disqualifies him from taking this position. Had his comments possessed even the remotest whiff of introspection, he might have saved himself from the pits of hypocrisy, but alas, all I smell is Chuck Turd. Sniffed and found wanting.
Chuck, you are only a legend in your mind.Explaining, explaining,
explaining.Chuck you have already lost your argument.
Someone should give Ole Upchuck a clue—he’s part of that 30% of journalist who look for the cheap shot and the click-bait.
Toad’s “analysis” is deeply superficial—like his “thinking”—and represents the laziest way to approach politics.
For someone who is constantly touted as the “political director” of a major network, Toad is relentlessly clueless about almost every issue, every candidate, and every election outcome.
NBC should be deeply ashamed of allowing Toad to prove once again that the Peter Principle is always right.
Chuck is obviously pointing to the likes of Casey Hunt, who’s been on a mission to hit and embarrass every democrats. First, it’s Prior in Arkansas, now these republicans stooge/reporter is on to Kay Hagan.
She sting these democrats with questions that can only depress Obama voters as much as its embarrassing, yet it isn’t one of substance or relevance.
Leadership on Ebola is now Obama’s fault? or the shameful consequence of virulent press hysteria. MSNBC daytime lineup from “Morning Joe” to “The Cycle” and there awful output continue to disgust…makes you giddy, doesn’t it Chuck?
Campaigns take what opposition researchers find and use it to produce ads. If they leak true information to the media, there’s nothing wrong with that. Leaking false information is another thing. But that’s opposition researcher’s job if they know some media outlet is gonna pick it up and publish it without verifying it. Readers, for the most part, don’t verify what they see/hear and it goes viral and gets accepted as true, even if it isn’t. Chuck is intentionally confusing the job of the media with the job of those of others he’s implicating.
Thanks to the Chuck Todd school of journalism, politicians no longer have to suffer the consequences of being caught blatantly distorting the facts. According to Todd its not a reporters job to point out a politician has their facts wrong. Thanks to that type of journalism the electorate is more misinformed than at any time in our history.
What a tool a shame that a few bad apples have to ruin a good time for everyone by breaking the rules.
Oppo research is never almost true, if you’re standard is the legal truth, whole truth and nothing but the truth standard. Oppo research is all about lifting from context. A journalist presented with oppo ought to think his job entails viewing it skeptically and, if it is found to be false, either because it is incomplete or because it is entirely fabricated, outing the provider as a liar.
Instead, they just lap it up and vomit it back out again.
Chuck, however, thinks he is above reproach because he manufactures his own cheap gotchas.
this is a two-way street. We’re destroying the process together here. The media isn’t doing it on their own.
Whoa, so the high school graduate blows nearly 70 years of secret old boy gov’t manipulations of domestic society with a too facile set of assumptions that (a) trash his own traditional industry as a news source (“what gets clicks, is what”) and (b) ignores not just media history but post-WWII art history and the gay movement to name just three impacted social aspects.
Is Todd really this unsophisticated and unaware? I almost feel sorry for him…
Yeah, that “gotcha” journalism where you actually challenge Republican’s bullshit really has no place in your world, does it, Chuck?
“Toad’s “analysis” is deeply superficial”
Indeed. Take a look at what prompted this little article. Todd is taking a beating on social media for his little “unqualified” commercial… And its not that the comment wasn’t enough…he then proceeded to argue that he is completely without bias, oblivious to the fact that stating an opinion on the show that ends up being used as a commercial for a candidate is pretty much the definition of partisan.
So, in typical Todd fashion, he is firing back saying its everybody else’s fault…all those other people with partisan natures taking advantage of poor little chuckie, and feeding him oppo research. (Nevermind that what he said was not the result of any oppo research, though it might have been the result of some payolla from the McConnell camp)
I believe Chuck Todd has disqualified himself from speaking on this topic.
That, and the fact that Todd sits up higher on the food chain, and doesn’t have campaigns feeding him oppo research on a daily basis; NBC has other, lesser minions, to be feed that sort of thing. Todd gets to pontificate about how tawdry it all is instead.
Hey Chuck! We’re outta beer!
I’ was confused when Toady drew a line between better journalists and the 30% who will run with anything. Isn’t he on the “It’s NOT my job to educate.,.” Side of journalism? Isn’t he a guy who will run with what’s in front of him because, HEY! It’s news!!
I think he disqualifies himself from journalism every time he opens his mouth.
