The best part of all this is that it’s fully self-inflicted mortal wound. All he had to do was just move on once the mayor refused to endorse him. He still would’ve won reelection overwhelmingly, he’d be Trump’s VP pick, and the GOP would’ve probably cleared the field for him in 2020. Now it’s questionable whether he’ll survive politically to serve out his second term. All because he had to be a bullying dick who can’t take no for an answer.
