Discussion: Chapel Hill Victim's Sister: 'American Sniper' Dehumanizes Muslims (VIDEO)

No one was parked in the disputed space when the victims were murdered and Hicks killed the victims inside their home. He also had issues with other neighbors that he didn’t kill. In light of those facts, I don’t know how anyone can credibly draw the conclusion that he targeted and killed these people over a parking spot.

Because it’s easier to make it about parking spaces, than acknowledge that Muslims face real tangible danger in this country as well, due to their religion.

You have a real bug up your ass over that movie. I wish you would explain why?

I did not use that word. I said “appears” based on evidence to date, and I said DOJ has a lot more evidence to sift through, and that could change. Read the whole post, don’t just crop something that gives it a different meaning please. Many others are speculating it was due to their faith, but that can’t be a “conclusion” either at this point.

Also, you say he did not shoot others he had disputes with. Well, there were other Muslims in the complex, and he did not shoot them either.

We have no idea who was in what spot that day, and for all we know it might have been from the day before since this was clearly premeditated due to a festering situation. Again, let’s let DOJ sort all this out before making conclusions. But everyone can speculate of course, otherwise there would be no comments sections. But I have not “concluded” anything, nor should anyone else

It does dehumanize Muslims, as well as glorify war. This is no “All Quiet on the Western Front” or “Catch 22”. It’s a story about a hero, and all his glory. It tries to paint some shallow anti-war paint over the top, but at it’s core it’s all gung ho patriotic BS.

Defense of what? Are you saying his lawyer will be saying he did not do the shooting, and will offer that as evidence he did not pull the trigger?

Who is “defending” what this asshole did?

Because the people who are investigating the crime have indicated it was over the parking spot. You are the one who’s jumping to conclusions.

What’s the relevance of this “He was also pro gay rights, hated Romney, and voted Dem in 2012”?

Full disclosure: I haven’t seen American Sniper. So, I’m not going to comment on the dehumanizing Muslims thing. But what does sectarian violence in Iraq have to do with any of that? It reminds me of when there’s a discussion of racist policing and the first thing some people want to bring up is black-on-black crime. It’s a red herring.

And as I recall, Saddam Hussein was hanged. So, unless your definition of “cozying up” to a dictator is very different from mine, then, yes, you have the narrative wrong. But are you really going to argue that the situation in Iraq is better now for Iraqis because of our intervention? Hell, are you going to argue that it’s better for us?

That would be for any potential hate crime, read my whole post. He showed a liberal attitude toward gays, the right of people of all faiths to worship, etc. But it has NOTHING to do with the murder. He’s going to jail the rest of his life for murder, and if NC has the death penalty, he’ll likely get that. And that is due to his view on guns solving his problems.

Right. You used his “liberal attitude” to defend him against accusations that his crime was motivated by hate. iow - you’re the asshole defending him because you’ve decided “it does appear parking was the issue.”

As I told you the other day, believe whatever you want. I’m done.

Regardless of his social media postings, I am wondering if this person would have acted the same if the parking spot issue occurred with someone “looking like him”. This guy EXECUTED in cold blood 3 people in their own home with no remorse. This happens most of the times when someone thinks that his victims are lesser than himself, rabid dogs to just be rid of.

Now, I think we agree that wars are dehumanizing period. “American Sniper” only presents facts that happens in all wars, and wars ain’t pretty. As much as I understand her emotions, I still reject the notion that the movie dehumanize Muslims as intended by this woman.

Your post is that of a degenerate.

Yes, although that does not necessarily equate to Hate Crime by legal definition. If some poor guy kills some rich guy in a robbery and says “too bad, rich guys suck anyway”, not a Hate Crime. And if some rich guy’s negligence in a building he owns causes a death and he says “who cares, just a peon”, that’s not a Hate Crime.

Whoa, there is a difference between a crime motivated by hate (jealous husband, etc.), and a Hate Crime by Law. Huge difference. Obviously this guy hated a lot of people (including these people) based on parking, making noise, etc.

A person can say they were “terrorized” by a person. That does not make that person subject to Federal prosecution as a “Terrorist”.

And we blew hundreds of innocent people into red mist by remote control. Unfortunately for those slow on the uptake, we have no video to show them the atrocity.

These people are no more about “faith” than the Olympic Park bomber. Or, if you’d rather have it your way, fine: Eric Robert Rudolph represents Christianity, and Bibi Netanyahu stands for all of Judaism.

Indeed!

More on the Saudi (and US) creation of terror

But “American Sniper” (also known as the movie that makes Islamophobes cum in their pants) is considered a documentary by dimwit xenophobes who just aren’t as discriminating in intent as you are.

Ted Nugent would disagree, and I’m sure he’s a big fan of the “documentary.”
