Nobody’s asking the important question: when will he announce he’s running for president?
Hoisted by his own petard
Old news. We can thank Eliot Cutler and two incredibly weak Democratic nominees in a row for both LePage terms.
With any luck, he’ll be so bogged down in defending himself against impeachment that he’ll be unable to do any lasting harm to the state.
LePage attacked the personal income of the House Speaker, and there have been unanimous calls for at least an investigation. The feeling is that he should not get away with pressuring a school to fire a political rival as this means he could pressure just about any business that gets state funds into firing anyone he wants.
Should he be ousted, he would be replaced by Michael Thibodeau, the current Senate President. Maine does not have a Lt. Governor. While Thibodeau is Conservative, he is not nearly as crazy as LePage.
I think there are votes to impeach…especially if he keeps thumbing his nose at the legislature. Whether or not the Senate will convict him is another story.
Sounds like a staff “error”.
D’oh!!!
You can’t blame the politicians, you have to blame the voters that voted for him.
You’ve got to think at some point even the conservatives in the Maine legislature have to be saying “this guy’s going to sink us all” and backing away.
Whomever his advisors are, you’d think someone would know the constitutional requirements for an adjourned legislative session. Or if they don’t…say hello to Maine’s uber-progressive governor! LMAO
Democrats, which control the state House, are crowing about the turn of events.
Crowing ?? Shit… I would be break-dancing complete w/headspins right on the House floor if I were them –
Please proceed, Governor!
…he did, however, express some concern that his aide had had him sign for a stolen jeep.
If the House does impeach, the Republican majority in the Senate will have an interesting choice: voting to convict would bring on the Senate President, a conservative Republican who respects the role and institution of the Legislature, into office, but might result in primary challenges from LePage supporters. Voting to acquit means serving another 3.5 years with a Governor who has no interest in working with the Legislature.
I know, I am just expressing my frustration. My cousin and her husband live in Maine and are liberal democrats and they are beside themselves.
Ya think??
I’d say he’s been elected because too many Mainiacs are stupid dumbfucks who don’t give a shit what the consequences are when they vote.
Looks like after all LePage is right, the legislature did adjourn:

But but but Mike Michaud wasn’t perfect waahhhhh I wanta pony and rainbows
Discussion over. Our eminent resident authority on Maine constitutional law has spoken.
Stephen King could, and he might well be doing so after this news.
