And Donald’s finances are the least of his disqualifying issues.

Reviewing Rachel’s list of people who have left or been removed from the Trump administration is going to take the entire A-block.

Gives me a tiny bit of hope that there’s enough “deep state” (read: career professionals who take their jobs seriously) to find and try to weed out shit like this. I was concerned when Walter Shaub (head of the Office of Government Ethics) resigned that there would be no oversight or enforcement within the Executive branch.

Yeah I’m thinking “could not divest” is code for “did not want to eat the loss and/or short-term cap gain taxes”. Or maybe she forgot her E*Trade password. Russians probably could provide it to her.

Just ahead of her time.

Well that didn’t take very long.

‘C’mon you guys…I’m supposed to LIVE on this governmental salary? I thought the whole gig meant I could grift!’

If there is a worst aspect of the Trump administration and there are plenty to list it’s the distain for environmental and public health.
Considering we are dealing with the worst flu season in years and there is a vaccine skeptic in the White House these agencies need to be staffed and headed by competent professionals with no conflicts of interest.

This one has shocked me, I’ve got to say. Not only secretly buying stock, but buying tobacco stocks. A CDC chief surreptitiously devoted to her self-enrichment by undermining the health of Americans entrusted to her. I’m speechless. She must be turned into an icon of plutocratic Republican evil by Dems. She cannot be allowed to fall off the radar. She is the Mengele of the GOP.

Well, that didn’t take long. Love how they vet these assholes. Extreme vetting. The best. The greatest vetting you’ll ever see. Ugh.

Unable to sell or just unwilling?

meanwhile, DeVos is still employed…I wonder what Zinke, Sessions, Perry…etc. have bought and sold stocks in recently.

She’ll have to file a suit and allege the screener that vetted her had a 2nd cousin that unsuccessfully ran for county clerk on the Dem ticket in Vermont, using campaign funds from Chelsea Clinton’s nanny’s 401k. So everything needs tossed.

I want you all to know that not all health care professionals in GA are crooks.
It just seems that way.

Yea “could not” my ass. Would not is more likely correct.

What? You mean the financial conflict rules are different for the CDC director than for Members of Congress?

Simply the best.

Thanks, I was trying to figure out what the hell “could not divest in a definitive time period” could possibly mean. How hard is it to say to your advisor, “Sell it”?

Of course, they got the auxiliary verb wrong: it isn’t could not, it is would not.

The whole idea of a public health official directly owning tobacco stock just boggles my mind. Does she pay no mind to what her financial advisors do?
