I’m curious when Democrats start taking credit for Obama’s being the greatest deficit-reduction President in US history… I’m baffled why the right is still able to claim, with a straight face, that they’re the party of fiscal responsibility.

It’s true, but also true that the deficit as he entered office was due to extenuating and urgent circumstances.
And the sequester was something he wasn’t personally responsible for* which also depressed the deficit.
(*Mind you, it’s pretty common for Presidents to be given(or to take) credit for things the Executive branch was only tangentially involved in making happen.)
Oh, it’s entirely meaningless, like gas prices or the stock market or in many cases even economic growth - but considering the Republicans still give Reagan credit for bringing back the Iranian hostages… on inauguration day… well let’s just say I’m not opposed to a little political posturing at this point haha.
