At what point are the insurers able to charge 5x the rate, rather than 3x, for older adults? Because that will be the difference between many people who right now don’t get any subsidies being able to pay a premium and not.

Trump called the House bill, which would result in 23 million fewer without health coverage, “mean”.

Chances are, he will call this bill “great” and “a tremendous improvement”, and will gladly sign it if it passes.

They’d prefer to use these if they could…

But those are out of vogue, so they’re stuck doing it the hard way.

And it’s not just the people who actually voted for Tramp, it’s their parents, their children, their sisters/brothers, friends, neighbors. That 15 million number has many spokes coming off of it of people who will be “touched” by these cuts even if these changes don’t have a direct effect.

People will choose to opt out because they don’t think the chance they will get sick is worth buying insurance or they will drop out because they cannot afford it and without a mandate, they won’t be forced to. If they do get sick, they will show up in emergency rooms and likely not pay the bill.

Yes. Absolutely. These people will feel freed-up. Nobody has taken anything away from them. Hardly the core of a Democratic backlash vote.

Tramp won’t remember he said it and Kellyann will be trotted out to say PeePee was just making a joke. What a lark!

Uninsured down from 23 million to 22 million with the “sliver plan”

GOP gonna fuck over the 99% just so the 1% can be just a little bit richer - and the rubes, rednecks, hillbillies, and other ignorant morons will keep electing them because Hillary’s emails, and the gays, vaccines, and no religion in public schools!

Wait, 22 million? That’s an improvement, right? Sorry, it’s not even a good joke. It’s been a very bad day what with this and SCOTUS on the travel ban.

Sounds like an awful lot of “repeal,” not much “replace.”

No. No. These are people who don’t want to buy health insurance. They may be stupid and/or shorsighted, but they will not feel anything but relief in not having to buy the insurance. We absolutely must start living outside our liberal bubble.
From a political stadpoint, maybe the only thing that will get through on the media is the topline 22 million, but even so the House bill passed with a 23 million number.

The DCCC just sent out a text warning that 22 million will lose their healthcare. Smart. Every Democratic organization needs to get on this and make sure everyone knows what the GOP is up to.

All this just so they can cut taxes for the rich.

This is just the preliminary JV game. If the bill doesn’t pass, Trump will sabotage the subsidies and drive the insurance companies out of the market and blame Democrats for the collapse of the ACA. By December the shit show will really start to begin and Democrats need to be ready to show, as you say, who owns this and provide a path forward to get us out of this mess. The hard part is to attribute the failure of the ACA to Trump’s unwillingness to faithfully execute the law.

I actually just heard one Republican commentator admit that - “We own it if it passes but we also own the broken promise if we don’t.” He was playing the victim card a little when he said that, but he is right.

“If we just have some Democrats! It will be bigly improved!”

Just saw (on Politicalwire) that the premiums for a middle-income 64-year old will go from about $6,500 annually to $20,000 under the senate plan. That number should be circulating as well. (This isn’t a proper link, but here’s the number:)

WOW. CBO: Premiums for a 64-year old with middle income go from $6,800 under ACA to $20,500 under BCRA :warning:
