Bryant, who is white, responded in a statement to Jackson television station WJTV that Thompson was seeking personal acclaim and was shattering what should be a time of celebration over the national monument designation.

A white Republican governor recognizing two white Republican senators and a white Republican pResident were to be celebrated for the designation. That uppity black guy who worked on it for 16 years was just being so petty to think he should have been mentioned when they were doing something great. That’s how those GOP mofo’s work – and now they can talk amongst themselves about how no matter how many nice things they do the more melanin-enriched just don’t appreciate it.

No.

Mississippi Governor did nothing to make the designation possible. Nor did either of the two GOP Senators. Nor did the President. Congressman who did all the work gets accused of being a racist and sowing division. The GOP is the party of the Dixiecrat segregationists.

You mean the guy that comes from the family that was intimately involved in the murder of Emmett Till made a statement slighting African-Americans? I’m shocked!

Aaand it’s official. Mississippi will remain 50th among the states in any measure of citizen well-being for yet another gubernatorial term.

This is pretty sickening. It makes my heart hurt for Congressman Thompson. That Governor What’s His Name is a filthy little rat basturd and I’m going to call his office on Monday and tell them what I think.

Gov. Bryant: “Well, hell’s bells, y’all! We didn’t hang that uppity member of the Democrat Party from a poplar tree! Ain’t that acknowledgement enough?!!!”

As if you have to wonder what side Governor Bryant was on in 1963.

And in over fifty years, things ain’t changed much since Phil Ochs wrote this:

Here’s to the state of Mississippi,
For Underheath her borders, the devil draws no lines,
If you drag her muddy river, nameless bodies you will find.
whoa the fat trees of the forest have hid a thousand crimes,
the calender is lyin’ when it reads the present time.
Whoa here’s to the land you’ve torn out the heart of,
Mississippi find yourself another country to be part of!

Well, OK, the Democratic segregationists of Ochs’ era have all migrated to the Republican Party and, without a twinge of shame, declare that the Democrats were and are the party of racism.

It’s simple, really - if you want to get the asshole vote, acting like an asshole helps.

“His anger and hatred are the very characteristics that separated our people in the civil rights era,” Bryant said.

Bryant views the world through a film negative where white is black and black is white, as if he and his kind weren’t the ones wielding through their power their anger and hatred .

For the MS governor, that advice boils down to: “just be yourself; you’ll get the asshole vote.”

Stationed at Keesler AFB in 1965. It was the anus of the U.S. then and still is.
