Discussion: Carson's 'Oreo' Wisecrack Got Some Laughs, But Katie Porter Is Having None Of It

I am not shocked at all that Riches is mentioned first.

Eyes at half-mast, slurring his words (which consisted of one word answers or repeating the phrases in the question), unable to even sit up straight ā€¦

He definitely seemed drugged and barely aware of his surroundings. Heā€™s a grifting imbecile and wholly incapable of performing his job. So, perfect for this administration.

Please, no. Canā€™t we have few Members of Congress who really, really know their stuff and can therefore change laws for the better. Sheā€™s an expert in housing policy. Letā€™s just put her in charge of that and let her lead the effort to make better policy (and be capable of holding accountable those who cannot).

Picked up a triple signed (artist on the litho, artist original in the margin, lithographer bottom right) Dubois Fenelon Hasbrouck lithograph at an antique mall for $300. Had the litho appriased recently, valued about $3000. I have a Russian art restorer that frames all my purchases, I gave it to him to put in some museum glass. He offered me $1000 for the frame, hand carved in excellent condition, probably the original from 1899 he thinks.

There are deals like that all over if you watch for them.

I agree with the general sentiment, but we need to put our best candidates forward, who arenā€™t afraid to call ā€œbullshitā€ on bullshittersā€¦ She also has a helluva resume, beyond housing policy.

Nick Ashford canā€™t give Ben a scholarship. Heā€™s with jeebus.

Porter must stay in the House for all the reasons you state. But we love new and shiny so we latch on to a brainy woman. As to who might be a good pick for Veep, Iā€™m going to suggest itā€™ll be someone whoā€™s now a prez candidate and will have accrued some needed name recognition.

We need to put our best candidates forward within the congress too. Iā€™d rather see her chair a major committee. I guess it is the superstar culture we live in that instantly wants to promote anyone with talent to the very top. You need lots of excellent role players to make the government work.

Agreed, and it really does not matter who the VP pick is. No one ever votes for the VP (they do vote for the president and care about who he or she picks as VP, but that is about the presidential candidateā€™s judgement).

Katie Porter is awesome enough to make a huge difference in the lives of average Americans just where she is. We need 10 more just like her.

No one votes for the Veep, but, and I hate this phrase but have to use it, it might make for better optics (ugh) to see a woman esp. one of color standing with the white prez. nominee. I say white male nominee because beating moron is critical and the feeling and talk is only one of those can beat him this year.

Katie always tears the pompous so and soā€™s a new one. Carsonā€™s cluelessness was particularly shameful.

HAHAHAHA. They look British.

So here is my brief but spectacular moments of clarity when watching Congressional hearings. I believe that the reason we are all impressed, surprised, or just plain relieved sometimes in watching members of Congress question someone is that it so rare to see a member of either chamber ask the interviewee a straight simple question, on their job or as follow up to the intervieweeā€™s testimony. Rep. Porter uses her time wisely and on point, as in how is FHA helping or hurting low income, medium income folks in times of foreclosure. AOC during her time in questioning Cohen, 'who has the information you mentioned regarding Trumpā€™s financial forms?" This question show me she was listening. And hearing Sen. Harris question Burr, ā€œhinted or suggestedā€. She made her point by not belittling him but by prodding him, in which he then made a fool of himself. Sen. Franken was also good at asking a simple question and, voila, we get an AG to recuse himself by answering not the question asked but the one he had prepared for.
Isnā€™t this how this is suppose to work?

What gave it away? The knee socks or the too short shorts? And dressed like that you know they were asking for it.

Iā€™m guessing that Porter is too much of a professional to spell out Asshole with the Oreos, then tweet a pic of it along with ā€œMunch on this while you avoid doing any part of your job.ā€

Carson is an imbecile. How he got to the point where he was operating on other peopleā€™s brains is something my own brain cannot fathom.

Oh, and Trump calls Biden ā€œsleepyā€!

Because it just requires steady hands and memorization. Heā€™s basically a robot

the shorts and socks are a giveaway. I have a WWII booklet for soldiers describing the daily expectations and terms of army life - itā€™s written and illustrated at a 4th grade level.

January 20, 2021 cannot possibly come fast enough.
This raging behemoth of a narcissist must be voted out, tried, found guilty, broken and imprisoned.
It must be a loud warning to any other such monsters to NOT TRY THIS!

A joke answer from a joke of a HUD secretary.

The man is senile.
