Indeed, one who phrases his pronouncements very oddly and can’t seem to remember what he’s saying from one sentence to the next.
And being a fan of your comments for quite some time … I bet she would have!
I have an idea for testing the hypothesis that DT shows early signs of Alzheimer’s.
He has always talked a LOT. Let’s see comparisons of speech patters from 20 years ago and now.
For someone with a little computer expertise, this would be a simple project.
Will we see some obvious differences? I don’t know. It’s worth finding out. Crowdfund?!
Exactly. He’d be shocked at what passed for ‘journalism’ back then. Many politicians (and certainly every political party) had their own newspapers, and everyone knew which side the papers were on. Kinda like every paper was Fox News, and you bought the paper whose viewpoint you believed.
Geez, it’s one thing to talk about how a cruel illness that’s afflicted your mom. It’s ANOTHER to use her to vicariously indulge in some goofy fantasy.
As for the Founding Fathers being displeased, they were displeased by the press of the late 18th Century in general until they left office because it was partisan as hell. It made Fox Not the News look like a bastion of fair play. If you don’t believe me, check out Eric Burns’ book ‘Infamous Scribblers’ and read ANYWHERE.
‘Dishonest reporters’? Those would be the ones that report on what you say and you insist it was ‘taken out of context’? THOSE reporters?
Pols complain that they were taken out of context ALL the time. Never mind the fact that most of them don’t even know what the word ‘context’ MEANS.
Would that be before or after he hit her with a hammer?
The Carson family sounds pretty fucked up.
To be honest I saw a clip from at least a couple of decades ago, where he was complaining about Native Americans who wanted to open a casino that would compete with his. It was really very similar—churlish, crude, and disjointed, the same barroom loudmouth style you hear today. And these were prepared remarks at a hearing. I think he’s always been such a sloppy, self-indulgent, undisciplined communicator that if he were suffering from some degenerative problem you wouldn’t notice for a long time.
I want a DNA test done on Carson, I believe he is descended from a long line of idiots.
If you start bringing up your own mom you are definitely asking for it.
Also, apparently, of violence.
Carson is a Seventh Day Adventist. If his mother is one—I’m thinking no to killing of reporters for the hell of it. Adventists don’t go in for casual violence as a rule. Now—if Ben is saying his poor mother would have shot someone before her Alzheimers, I’m thinking she was just plain crazy. Ben trying to brain someone with a hammer speaks to a whole family of crazy.
Well, I don’t think those dishonest reporters have much to fear. All they’d have to say is, “Don’t shoot me. Shoot that guy over there. Then I’ll take you out to Popeye’s.”
And to be fair, at least Carson would have made his mother do it. Trump wants to do it himself.
Both my parents had Alzheimers towards the end of their lives. There’s no way in hell I would say they were “not alive” before they had actually passed. What kind of son does that? Carson is a fucking fruitcake. This man is sick in the head. Anyone know a good brain surgeon that can take a look at this fool?
You have some way with words @ralph_vonholst.
I had to look up litotes but it was more than worth it.
I won’t be sorry I did.
How can anyone but a fool joke about the idea of shooting someone you don’t agree with… some joke…
Laughs can be hard to come by.
“Dishonest” reporting. Mm-hm. Would that be “dishonest” as in “asking me to account for crazy shit I’ve said or written in the past, like one time I got punked in a classic prank orchestrated by Garry Trudeau at Yale, but later claimed it was an award for integrity?” Or “dishonest” as in “asking me whether I still agreed with statements I had once made to the effect that the Egyptian pyramids were actually large grain silos built by Joseph?”
The good doctor seems to be laboring under the misconception that “makes me look ridiculous” = dishonest.
