Discussion for article #241424
but said he felt differently after deciding to run for President on the GOP ticket.
Fixed that for him.
And seriously, is that the first time he’s read Daniel Webster?
If it is, he’s certainly not fit to be President.
He’s turned into the ultimate political whore. He’ll say anything to pander to the racist base of the Republican Party.
People who think teachers should have guns in their classrooms have either never taught or have forgotten what that environment is like. That’s just madness.
Just imagine a couple football players ticked off because the teacher didn’t give them an “A”. Imagine those ticked off football players in a 'roid rage jumping the teacher, taking his gun and killing the teacher…
"…a favorite conservative talking point, arguing that shooters “tend to pick places that are gun-free zones.”
Is this guy for real? Most of them are looking at suicide anyway – whether self-inflicted or “by cop” – just so long as they can take someone with them or wreak revenge. If your goal is revenge followed by suicide by whatever method, you are NOT going to care whether you go into a “gun-free” zone or not. They go where they can satisfy their urge for revenge before they die, and the presence or absence of guns is unimportant.
Actually, if there are guns there, your “assisted suicide” is 100% assured, which makes a compelling argument to hit a weaponized target.
Sheesh. Just goes to show you can be intelligent but have absolutely no commonsense.
Exactly!!
Benadryl Carson resides in a giant fact-free zone.
Okay. You arm the teachers…and then what do you do when the teacher’s the one that goes nuts? Starts shooting his or her students in the fuckin face?
Arm the kids, and then what do you do when the kid goes next door and shoots the 8-year-old that won’t let him play with her dog?
You wanna get into some slippery slopes, let’s do it.
My sister is an instructor at a community college. Like she said, “Armed combat is not in my fuckin’ contract.”
And “They don’t pay me enough to try to get shot at.”,
I just don’t understand why some places can’t just be off-limits to fuckin guns.
My particular concern is elementary school-age kids going through the teacher’s things, but yes–that, too.
Dr. Carson-Congratulations on your shiny new NRA A+ rating.
Your sister and I are fellow community college teachers. Please tell her hello and that we here in Kansas are having the same discussions–after 2017, guns will be allowed on campuses and in classrooms in accordance with a state law passed this year.
I’d much rather be your sister’s colleague than her brother-in-arms.
I was just abut to say that he wouldn’t have a problem with having his kindergarten kid’s teacher strapped until they the teacher decided to start shooting the kids out of frustration.
But, of course, in his mind (or what passed for it, that wouldn’t happen…
So a teacher should have guns. In the classroom,. And it would only be effective if the gun were close at hand. Picture the average teaching classroom. The teachers doesn’t stay behind a desk. The teacher moves around the classroom, bends over to assist a child, stands at the chalkboard, etc.
But if a killer enters, the teacher must be as prepared as the killer. So the weapon must be readily available. So I assume the weapon cannot be safely out of reach of the children. Must be ready to shoot at all times. So I assume the teacher should have a weapon on their person at every minute.
Sorry, my grandson just started kindergarten.I am picturing his petite teacher passing out papers with a glock stuck in her pants, and another child … oh forget it.
Or the teacher deciding to shoot his or her students. Teachers going psycho is not exactly unheard of.
Remember after 911 they decided to lock cockpit doors from the inside on commercial airliners? Without considering what happens when the fucking pilot goes fucking nutso and wants to crash his fucking plane in the fucking alps?
What has always fascinated me is that these gun-toting conservatives think that half the population are dumber than a bag of hammers and can’t be trusted to tie their own shoes…yet still believe that EVERYONE should have unfettered access to firearms.
My own brother is one of these fucking pricks.
Yes, a laudable service you have rendered unto us. I am trying not to hate this guy – prefer to believe he is some kind of drug addict / retard /manipulator.
There is no greater logic fail than referring back to the Founders when discussing the state of the Republic today and it’s current relationship with guns. Ben if all we had and all the government had was access to single shot flintlocks you might have a point. But if you think a bunch of yahoos with guns are going to prevent some imaginary tyrannical take over of our government you are more delusional than the ammosexuals.
Why is it that EVERY SINGLE ONE of the Republican Candidates for President thinks the ONLY SOLUTION to a simple Supply/Demand issue is a “Mutual Suicide Pact”?
By their reasoning: Since 5% of the population is completely insane (and disarming them might impact profit margins in the Gun Industry) we ALL must carry deadly weapons and become “perfect killers” to “defend ourselves” with our lighting-reflexes and near-omnipotent-knowledge of what is actually happening around us at any given instant and “perfect aim” and “perfect calm” in ALL situations.
That by itself is an insane idea that only happens in the Movies (or as the Reich-Wingers call it: Reality)
NOBODY is “John McClain”. He is a fictional character in 2 great, 1 average, and 2 Really BAD movies.
Dr. Knowlittle should just go back to medicine full time and stay the hell outta’ politics. He’s a sad embarrassment and standout in a Repuke field that is embarrassment personified.

Playing good ol’ Stepin Fetchit and an idiot savant for the Tea Potty crazies in that gaggle of Republican clowns and loons is tragic.
I guess my education is lacking… Where in history did the tyrants go in and take away the guns before taking control of the country and it’s people?
