Discussion: Carol Costello Sorry She Pissed Off Bristol Palin

First the TundraTrollop™ denied anything happening, now this. I would take the word of the other people present over this MethHo

Because of her politics? Really? Where did you get that? Were you there? Bristol, is that you?

According to her, she was assaulted.
According to every other person at the party (whose last name isn’t Palin) who spoke to the police, Bristol was doing the assaulting.

It has nothing to do with politics. You’re projecting. You’re the one who drinks the kool-aid from the right, no matter how many people have pissed in it, and your defense of the Reagan aide who wants to start Reaganistan proves it.

tigmet feels his side is being victimized, and that’s typical.

If the TundraTrollop™ was assaulted, why didn’t she press charges?

I’m not projecting. The key point here is that while we don’t know what happened, CNN clearly took great delight in a tape that appeared to indicate a woman who very well may have been assaulted, and the only possible reason they did that was because of their views of her mother. It’s just grossly irresponsible. If they ran a straight story that said “It isn’t clear just what happened that night,” that’s one thing. But they LOVED hearing Bristol Palin distraught. That’s the issue here.

Ok, CNN needs to be sober and steely eyed, so it was right and proper for Costello to apologize, but the rest of us who aren’t professional journalists are laughing our asses off at Bristol, Sarah and the rest of the Palin clan.

Truly the family that drunken brawls together stays together. The tape is better than an episode of Jerry Springer.

I don’t know why, but I find myself surprised that there are still people out there who defend the Palins.

Her comments were tame considering the entire event. No apology needed. This family represents a complete loss of manners, etiquette and taste. The GOP should be apologizing for inflicting this family on our country.

Okay, I’ll give you that. Professional journalists should refrain for rejoicing when anyone is distraught.

That one also defended the homophobic Reagan aide who wants the South to secede.

No defense of the Palins from me. I don’t like them at all. But I’ve got two daughters. I don’t think a guy dragging a woman by the hair across the grass is something a national network should be mocking. And I thought it was only conservatives who were engaged in a “war on women”?

Hopefully you raise your daughters better than Todd and Sarah.

The evidence from everyone the police interviewed who didn’t have the surname Palin is that Barstool started the fight.

My favorite tidbit from the evening is still the fact that Sarah and Todd tried to hide Track from the police as they were pulling up, but he was too sloshed/beaten up to get in the hummer limo quickly enough.

I’m not defending him. But TPM tries to be a serious blog, and they drag up these stupid comments from utterly unimportant people and stick them up as their lead story. It’s a total joke. Yes, their “news” is going to be left-leaning. But they can’t find anything more important than this guy who looks like he was about 17 degrees of separation from Ronald Reagan, and then call him a Reagan aide? That’s really the biggest story of the day that supports a liberal agenda? They couldn’t do better than that?

This isn’t a case of abuse. The story has been told many ways, but as near as anyone can tell this was a donnybrook involving a lot of alcohol, a former boyfriend, his mother and the host of the party. It also involved male and female members of Palin family throwing punches and being punched. Nobody was seriously hurt, and no charges were filed by anyone. Apparently one guy was fired for telling the press what happened.

It was a drunken brawl. If it had been in a bar it would have been a bar fight. There is a long tradition in the movies about the humor associated with drunken brawls. This one was funnier than some but not as funny as others.

As I said: I have no idea what happened. But either does Carol Costello. The whole reason she ran that audio was because she found it really amusing that the daughter of Bristol Palin was caught on tape distraught in telling her story to the police. She did not cover the story because it broke new ground about what happened in Alaska that night, which isn’t even a story anymore. She broke it to mock the daughter of a woman whose politics she doesn’t like, even though this woman may have been assaulted. And for CNN, that’s pathetic.

If he was 17 degrees of separation, he sure doesn’t hold back in his bio, which mentions working for Reaggy and Herbie Walker right off the bat:
