Discussion: Carlson Named Chair Of Miss America Org After Heads Ousted For Crude Emails

It’s time for the whole beauty pageant thing to disappear. It’s, by nature, exploitative and mysoginistic.

But if they insist on keeping it, they might as well appoint past winners or contestants to run it. Maybe it will evolve into something relatively meaningful.

To remain relevant, former runners up should teach Roy Moore the CCSD method of losing with dignity.

Concede.
Congratulate.
STFU.
Disappear.

The best way to end workplace sexual harassment is to have more women in top management. While I am not a fan of beauty pageants, I think Carlson is a solid pick. Can you see someone like Trump marching into the dressing rooms while she is in charge? No, I can’t either.

Not sure how many staff remain at the organization, but the second order of business - after damage control - is to deal with the Haskell culture of misogyny and discrimination. The board is going to have to hire staff who won’t tolerate that shit, and that means more women.

Anybody know how many board members there are and whether Carlson, Henry, Fleiss and Shindle comprise a majority? If not, getting a new board majority of women is a priority.

She’s becoming normal since leaving Fox.

Her FOX association will always be a smear. But if you have such a silly thing as “Miss America”, I prefer a woman to some dirty old man as boss.

I’d have thought so too, but as near as I can tell, former contestants (and I’m specifically including those god-awful pageants for children) seem to speak highly of their experiences in terms of female bonding, confidence-building and fun, with the only sour notes coming from run-ins with sleazeballs like Haskell and Trump.
