Discussion: Cannes, France Bans Full-Body 'Burkini' Swimsuits From Beaches

So, no nuns allowed either?

Well I’m surprised NC, AL, MS, or FL haven’t insisted on traditional swimwear. They’re all about those traditional values.

I laughed when I saw the “burkini” picture because it looked an awful lot like the swimsuits my grandmother and her sisters wore about 100 years ago. Navy blue wool swim dresses - more slim than the 1900 in your picture but about that length, and with wool tights covering the legs.

My grandmother was a phenomenal open water distance swimmer, and no wonder - the alternative was drowning.

Much like in the USA we have idiots who confuse “Freedom of Religion” with “I can force my religion’s edicts and restrictions on you, who do not follow the same religion”, it seems the mayor of Cannes has confused “secular society” with “society where religion is forbidden.”

This is Islamophobia plain and simple. It has nothing to do with “public order” or - for fuck’s sake - “good morals”.

In reality, they just want the ladies to cover their Cannes. Sorry!
