I really wish Canada was further south. It always seems like such a more adult country in which to live, but I live with a bunch of people who can’t handle subzero temps.

That’s because Canada still has media regulations in place that do not allow for propaganda to be broadcast every night into Canadian homes. Fox News famously tried to start a Canadian version back in the 90’s and was shut down by the Canadian Radio and Television Commission (the CRTC, like the FCC) for not being accurate enough.
It really does make a huge difference in the attitude of the population. Sure there are right wing crazies in Canada, but not nearly as many and not nearly as loud.
Also, Canada has an amazing public education system that is not consistently starved by the government, and a college education costs less than 20 grand. Total. Because Canada believes in a well educated population, so the government pays 90% of the cost.
Also: gun control. Canadians don’t believe that everyone should have a gun, and handguns were banned 20 years ago after a particularly bad mass shooting at the Ecole Polytechnique Montreal where Marc Lepine separated out the women and shot them against a wall.

Hey, ya’ll are supposed to be LIBERALS…meaning you FACT-CHECK. I live in Vancouver BC and we rarely ever get frost, let alone snow. The northern states out-cold most of Canada. I have green grass and flowers today…how’s the mid east & west US doing?

Again, fact-check! Most northern US states beat most of Canada for “cold”. Where I live, I have green grass & flowers today and will have all year round, as always. If we get frost overnight, we stare in wonder, lol!
Once, I spent Christmas in Victoria, BC. I picked roses in my hostess’ garden in the morning to use as part of the centerpiece on the table.
BTW, all provincial premiers are on board with accepting the refugees. In fact, their numbers total more than 25,000.
Not just the right thing, but smart. They will thrive in Canada and make it an even better place.

You might’ve noticed my avatar-- I grew up in the cold north of the U.S. But I live with a bunch of people from the South. So Canada isn’t an option. no fact checking needed on this one.

When I lived in Seattle more than once I walked Elliott Bay Park on Christmas and New Years day stopping at the rose garden to smell the fresh blooms… Been thinking of relocating to BC, 1st pick is Victoria the Vancouver area, will need some space for the dogs and garden/orchard.

Hey, LynnTheDem, don’t feel bad – most of the U.S. (east of the Rockies) don’t think of the West Coast at all (California, Oregon or Washington) much less the Left Coast of Canada! Your weather is much nicer than where I currently live, Virginia. It’s beautiful here but I do miss the years I spent in California.
