Discussion: Cameron Resignation Sets Off PM Succession Scramble

And this time likely successful.

Disgraced, deposed Cameron: “All of a sudden, fucking a pig live on national television doesn’t seem all that big a deal.”

In my fantasy, the queen called Cameron to Westminster this morning and told him he is a bloody stupid bastard.

I hope that happened.

“I am sick that two upper class twits from Eton have torn our country apart and I feel ashamed.”

To which, many of us on this side of the pond say, “Amen, brother.”

No, she won’t do that. She might like to, but she won’t. Charles might, though.

Those guys in the photo must be all the young people too dumb to vote Remain.

FYI:

" This morning, I woke up in a country I do not recognise. David Cameron’s big gamble – the future of Britain against his personal political ambitions – has backfired so badly that we’ve blasted clean out of the EU. By the time I’d put the kettle on, the stock markets were in free fall, Scotland was debating a new independence referendum, Sinn Fein was making secession noises, and the prime minister had resigned.

There’s not enough tea in the entire nation to help us Keep Calm and Carry On today. Not on a day when prejudice, propaganda, naked xenophobia and callous fear-mongering have won out over the common sense we British like to pride ourselves on. Not on a day when we’re being congratulated by Donald Trump, Marine Le Pen, and nobody else. Well done, turkeys. Santa’s on his way."

I don’t know = she’s 90. People do some surprising things in their 90s.

Fascinating read! Thank you so much for posting that link.

This from HuffPo To-day:

[Johnson left his home to jeers from a crowd in the mainly pro-EU capital. He spoke to reporters at Leave campaign headquarters, taking no questions on his personal ambitions.

“We can find our voice in the world again, a voice that is commensurate with the fifth-biggest economy on Earth,” he said.]

“The fifth-biggest economy on Earth” said this fucking grifter…with Scotland and Northern Ireland leaving just around the corner and after having lost hundreds of billions of dollars.

This is now in the existential phase of 2016. Are there enough sensible people to stop this descent into xenophobia, tribalism, nativism and racism?

For one things the xenophobes, tribalists, nativists and racists are twice as motivated to make themselves heard

For another, the MSM is making too much money hand over fist covering them and those who excite them.

The decision to soft-pedal Donald Trump in 2015 by the MSM may go down as a domino like the 1914 assassination by Gavrilo Princip.

Seems to me, no matter who they chose as PM, its not going to change much, as Cameron will turn out to be the least of their worries when he’s gone. The dynamics will remain the same. But, what do I know? I admit I’m still learning how this will impact the US, and that’s not at all clear either.

I, too, was very much impressed by the link you provided, Thanks for the inspiring read. IF the Brits act as they did in 1940, they will find a way.

I was struck by the parallels between the political situation in Britain and ours - the right wing in both countries breaking apart and the two parts at odds, the liberals failing to coalesce behind their leader…

A little too close, really, for comfort.

“Fascinating read!”

That’s the vibe I got also.

The writer put me in her kitchen.

She’s good.

Many thanks for the link. My friends in England are devastated.

I am so sorry for them - I really am.

I am sure that people I know in Italy are devastated.

Tena, but this is an object lesson for US voters. A day later I am seeing a lot of reports from the UK saying some voters are remorseful, they really didn’t understand, or they thought it would never happen and wanted to “act out” thinking their vote to leave wouldn’t matter. Americans thinking they don’t have to think by voting for rump might pay attention now–there are consequences–it’s not a game show. Or at least some of them.

I’ve seen that too and it gives me hope, believe me.

And makes me shake my head in wonder - "how many pints went down before you cast that vote, chum? " That’s quite a hangover they have going on today.
