and former congressman Allen West are among the defendants accused of promoting these bogus stories.

Good to see the former congressman added. It’s especially insidious when lawmakers boost these attacks.

allegedly ramming his car into a crowd?

We have a video tape of him doing exactly this which makes it more than an allegation.

“Defendants thrive by inciting devastating real-world consequences with the lies they publish as ‘news,’” the suit reads. “From ‘Pizzagate’ to the Sandy Hook and Las Vegas shootings, Defendants have subjected innocent people to relentless threats of violence and death, bullying, and online harassment.”

Much more of this, please.

Infowars is like a big polluting factory, getting rich as its pollutants harm a small number of people a great deal and a large number of people to a lesser extent.

West was never much of a lawmaker. He was swept into Congress on the Tea Party wave of 2010 and washed out again when the system was flushed in 2012. He was cashiered from the Army for war crimes (although he was allowed to retire in lieu of facing a court martial). He will still tell you he didn’t do anything wrong but was railroaded by a bunch of REMFs. However, his credentials as a card-carrying war criminal made him a darling of the Tea Party. I too am glad to see him included among the defendants. He deserves it.

Wasn’t there a NAACP or SPLC suit that forced the Kluxxers to give up their only asset, real estate?

Just the legal fees will bleed the beast.

I am old, and remembered when we called those access badges “Press Badges” instead of Media Badges. Media to me is not the same as journalist. That this Admin mainstreamed the likes of Alex Jones etal Media by giving them Access is beyond the pale for someone who likes to scream “Fake News” and threaten Libel against legitimate Press.

I wish the Attendee has as much backing as Peter Theil gave the Hulk. Hint Hint Hint

That was back in the 80’s. The SPLC sued the Klan chapter in Alabama for the lynching of an African American man. The award was $7million which essentially bankrupted them.
Lock, stock and trailer park.

Excellent news. These guys need to be held to account, even dragging them into court is a small victory. Make them pay for fake news. Make them pay.

The WP article about this mentioned that Gilmore’s parents received a letter with white powder in it, so at least someone tried to do more than just say mean things. The right wing thrives on this kind of behavior…this case should be viewed as just a first step to stopping this kind of behavior, we need a total cleansing of the idea that threatening violence is just a part of the conversation.
