Discussion: BuzzFeed Editor Not Sweating Survey That Shows Lack Of Trust In Site

Agree.

Consistent liberals show no gray in their preferences, the only group to do so. Consistent conservatives seem to be less starkly judgmental, in that they have four grays; however, since three of the four are British, this reveals deep distrust of any American news source except the conspiracy-hate ones, and that they also doubt British “objectivity”. If they perceive the British reporting of the Snowden “conspiracy” as more trustworthy than similar American reporting, I think this may account for the gray ratings instead of outright rejection.

Curious that the Wall Street Journal is the only trusted source with all groups, considering Murdoch ownership. I would have thought that consistent liberals had gray distrust in it. On the other hand, had Murdoch not purchased it, I think that consistent conservatives would have had gray distrust or outright rejection. Perhaps all Americans can be reached through their investment portfolios.

I wish that this survey had also include the AP and Reuters, since they are the originating sources of much of the news that gets replayed by others.

53% of consistent conservatives who talk about politics agree all or most of the time with all of their top discussion partners compared to 41% of consistent liberals. In other words conservatives who spout Fox, Limbaugh, Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity talking points can’t figure out where all their liberal friends went.

The Wall Street Journal has excellent reporters but a craven editorial board. The problem is most people can’t discern the difference. Since when is Rush Limbaugh a “news” person?

This graph clarifys the deep and increasing angry paranoia of consistent conservatives about the world and the rest of us in it. Couple that generalized anger about the “American Conspiracy”, easy access to weapons and patriotic calls for 2nd Amendment remedys, bodes ill for the US.

I hope that more of the mixed group can be persuaded to vote for candidates who support our actual Constitution and expand justice and enfranchisement throughout our population to mitigate or even ward off the gathering storm. Buttressing our arguments with references to the maroon and selected gray sources, especially Mother Jones and Politico may be an effective use of this graph.

Interesting in a depressing, frightful way, however. It also indicates their receptivity to accessible sources even more hatefully primitive than either Beck or Rushbo.

“Contrasting views” is one thing. Obnoxiously baiting people, posting dissertation-length propaganda screeds and personally insulting me and others because of our liberal political views is quite another, and I have had more than one conservative former friend behave that way on Facebook. So f#%@ 'em, sez I.

More like BuzzKill. There must be an algorithm that will make them seem trustworthy.

Popularity can be hidden in the numbers, they just have to find it or create it, whatever.
