We watched the interview here and we were impressed. He bears some due diligence to see what his track record has been and get a solid sense of what he wants to represent.

This doesnāt have anything to do with the actual bible, it has to do with the depiction of Sodom and Gamorrah found in at least one old 1950s movie showing men who acted like drag queens as part of the wickedness of the two cities.

Same - that was really the first time I saw him. Certainly an impressive guy. Iām still concerned that itās too soon and too risky for this moment in our culture, which is incredibly sad and depressing in its own right, but itās for this reason that his current ascent really gives me pause. Seems to be an extremely thoughtful and capable guy though.

If anyone can put us over this cultural hurdle, I think Buttigieg can.
Even if he doesnāt win the nomination, his being a serious contender will surely topple many walls of hate, ignorance, and homophobia.

Unsolicited advice to Pete: stop chasing Trump voters. Evangelicals like the loon who yelled at you are the backbone of Trumpās base. Know who your friends are. When the other side starts coming at you with stories about your background, know that Dems and liberal minded Indies will be the ones to get your back. There are more voters among us than among them.

I have tossed that around in my head a lot as well. Too much change at a point when this country is too fragile is a concern. But he seems to have a way. I went into watching his interview with that thought, walked away with a firm hmmā¦ maybe.
I am more afraid is he is a person with natural charisma as his sole asset. That is why he has to be looked into more deeply. We already have a charismatic in place and we know how that has worked out. That is the way I feel about Klobuchar. She can be inspiring in her own unique way. That is not a negative on her at all, just it should not be the first and only reason in supporting her or anybody.

Itās difficult not to remember Klobuchar really, really has a record of treating people badly. Itās just desserts that that it is catching up with her. People who treat others badly donāt deserve success. Sorry if Iāve offended anyone. As Iām sure she is too. But itās too late for her.

Well, I obviously agree with THAT. My real worry is that he catches fire in very crowded field during the nomination process. Runs against Dump and loses because heaven forbid farmer bob or rancher bill have to vote for the gay guy. Then we get stuck with the current asshole in chief for another 4 yrs. Iām ALL about breaking down walls and, as I have said time and again, I will vote for any of the 73 dems that are running, but we have to pick someone that can win. I donāt really know how to put this unease to bed with respect to Buttigieg. Iām sure I am not the only one with this fear in the back of mind that there are lots of bastards that will vote for a vanilla democrat but will never vote for the gay guy. OTOH, I guess this same fear existed with Obama but I am not sure itās quite the same thing, honestly.

Youth has rough edges. I can even see Pete talking to friends at how he āoutsmartedā the hecklers. A 37 year old would do that.
A 57 year old would look at that as S.O.P.

I was at Mayor Peteās event in Fort Dodge, IA yesterday, deep in Steve King country. J.D. Scholten, Kingās opponent in midterm, hosted. The heckler there was on about abortion, and was escorted out by the crowd. Peteās was amazing, really had the crowdās support. Two middle school students, representing the Gay Student Alliance, asked a question about what middle school was like for him, and his answer was so empathetic and supportive.
Heās got it.

The man for all people, we know that cant be,and we tried it before with Obama. I am not willing to go that route. Going to need some specifics.
I am not sure why the women are not getting any traction, hopefully things will change during the debates.
Many felt the same way about Obama ā¦
