Discussion: Bundy Family Members Head To Oregon Gold Mine For BLM Protest

Sounds like the road trip between Nevada and Oregon would be a good opportunity for law enforcement to pick up whichever members of this scofflaw family decide to leave the protection of their ranch/compound.

Artisanal mining. Believe me, if somebody offers you a job at Popeye’s, even a guy named Amin Dhanani, take it. You’ll do better and won’t face nearly the same exposure to mercury or cyanide. These people are clueless about what they are fighting for and even more clueless it will cost the American taxpayer to clean up their mess. Freedom.

Good grief, why isn’t Bundy in jail for tax evasion? It looks like the Bundy family is going to the gold mine to cash in alright. To cash in from those who are stupid enough to fund the Bundy family going to the gold mine.

You called down the Oath Keepers, now reap the Bundy crazy.

Waiting for one of these domestic terrorists to get into a brawl with government officials, and then the mine owners to say something along the lines of, “We never wanted this to turn violent!”. Actually, I don’t think I buy that whole line of reasoning at all. They wanted armed guards protecting their land grab, that’s what they got.

Lots of applicable info on Wikipedia (I know, not always a reliable source). Born of incest between Lot and his youngest daughter, worshipped a god who demanded child sacrifice, was an endless source of trouble, and extraordinarily cruel when they got the upper hand. What’s not to like?

(I wonder if Cliven even knew what he was saddling his child with.)

“Constitutional activists?” Really? I think you must have meant “right wing radicals” or possibly “armed insurrectionists.” Edit to add: I see Mr. Newman beat me to it. I smile.

With the Oathkeepers there, I’m actually worried that this WILL end up ending in bloodshed. They are not only itching for a fight, they’re demanding one with their actions.

One can always hope.

Ammon was the kingdom to the northeast of ancient Israel, often cited for being rivals in war and being examples of the evils of paganism. And, as ignoreland noted, described in Genesis as being descended from the incestuous rape of Lot by his daughter, following the destruction of Sodom. So yeah, kind of an odd choice of a name.

Yes, that was my first thought. A perfect time to arrest this guy.

Seems like the bloom is off the right wing militia rose. No coverage on local news and nary a mention on Democratic sites. People are tired of these sub humans and their “look at me” tactics. Wheres the fun if the news crews don’t show up? Let them wallow in boredom and neglect.

I thought the oppressive, Nazi-esque, New World Order oppressive government was preventing them from doing anything. Freedom of movement? Way to go, Obamacare!

Let me think back to a different place and time when law in forcemeat officers just shot and killed anyone that they claimed put them at risk. If they can justify killing unarmed black men because they feared for their safety, what is stopping them from shooting armed white men that ARE threatening their safety?

Ricky Bob Barclay?! You have to be kidding me!?!
I have lived in Southern Oregon since 1980, out in the country working on an agricultural commune, but spent plenty of time in Medford, Jacksonville, Grant’s Pass. We call it Jefferson State (too far from Salem/Sacremento to govern well) Imagine my surprise when this Bundy Gold mine pre-fiasco this Rick Barclay turns out to some one I knew intimately from the ol’ commune.
I can’t vouch for his character, I knew him well, but long, long ago. Geeze Louise, Ricky Bob Barclay! You never know, eh?

Time for a fucking smackdown.

Flash bangs and tear gas or AR-15s, I don’t care which. Caving to Bundy is what led to this. How much longer is this kind of thing going to be allowed?

Ha! Everybody know what happened when the Rolling Stones hired the Hell’s Angels to provide security at Altamont. How is it that the mine owners thought this time it would be different? If you open the Pandora’s Box of Crazy, the crazy comes pouring out…

Cliven won’t be showing his face or he would be arrested if he ever left that safety of his federally funded “ranch”

Southern Oregon has a long history of mining, but mainly silver, going back to pre-statehood. I suspect it’s another case of a private person using public government land who wants to keep all the money for themselves without going through the process like everyone else.

Absolutely agree.
I submit for your consideration an improved description:

The Oath Keepers are a bunch of reactionaries from the military and law enforcement who sat on their thumbs and shrugged off the Bush/Cheney administration’s warrantless wiretaps, illegal warmongering, torture, granting of immunity to telecom firms, rendition, etc. and then suddenly sprang into action upon the election of Barack Obama.
Despite their professed unwavering support of the U.S. Constitution, they have defended military officers who refused to follow lawful orders from their commanders, sore losers who still question Obama’s legitimacy and eligibility as President, and scofflaws who raised semi-automatic weapons at federal officers.
As such they present a clear and present danger to the governability of the United states of America.
