Discussion for article #229298

OMFG!!!

WTF???

FYI, the KC Royals are in MISSOURI!!!, Not Kansas.

Are you really that incompetent?

Actually he is.

Wait…the World Series is going on?

And Rasmussen tends to lean Republican…

I wish Democrats would use the stuff that the Daily Show uncovered regarding why Brownback’s tax cuts will never work.

His internal polls show a dead heat, so yeah, he has some problems.

Of course, the Royals are from Missouri but a big hunk of their natural fan base is in Kansas just across the border. What I can’t figure out is how the calls during the World Series game would help one candidate over the other.

Do they call cell phones, land lines, or a combination of the two? Very few people I know answer any calls they don’t recognize because of telemarketers.

That is why I have no clue what to think about the outcomes this time. My gut tells me the Senate flips but who the fuck knows. Certainly Karl Rove doesn’t.

Gee, looks like Kansas voters have decided they don’t like Brownback’s policies, and that’s why he’s down by 7.

I hope he loses by 17, although 27 would be better.

Sure Brownback blame my KC Royals for you being a loser.

I’ve been thinking about the landline issue. We have one, but we don’t answer if we don’t recognize the number. A lot of people now use cell phones only.

I think that definitely has the pollsters scrambling. I’m hoping we’re going to be pleasantly surprised.

The republican efforts to suppress the vote kind of support that, actually.

In the last 2 elections, the polls have underestimated the Democratic vote by 2% or so-it may be cell phones along with caller ID and other factors. There is no question that response rates are down into the single digits. That means that pollsters have to assume (with no data to support the assumption) that the small minority who do respond are representative of the whole.

As far as baseball, yes there are many KC fans in Kansas, even though the stadium is a few miles over the state line. But are baseball fans more Republican than Democratic? I haven’t seen data to support that.

Brownback has a bigger problem than the Royals-a few days ago the state released revenue estimates which look even worse than previously. I guess cutting taxes fails once again to increase revenues.

May the people of Kansas win with a Royal(s) flush over Brownback.

They also all horribly under poll minorities and the young voters. I do not answer numbers that I do not recognize either. I live on the Missouri side, but if I lived in Kansas and was a huge Royal’s fan, like I am here in Missouri, I would be so pissed at his constant lying Ads at every commercial break of the games, which in itself would make me vote against him.

Kansas is part of the Royals fan base, so I find it plausible Kansans might be disinclined to answer the phone during the world series. That only Republicans watch baseball is a bit less plausible.

Except the Royals play in Claire McCaskill’s state, and, it is a game of inches.

My gawd Kansas is stupid.

Looking at the TPM tracker… what are the chances the Libertarian candidate gains almost two points in the same week the Democrat loses two? It makes no sense really.

Kansas has been an open air laboratory for TEA Tantrum experiments. It may take a couple of decades to bring it out of the cess pool.
