Discussion: Brother Of NAACP Prez In Race Scandal Says She Warned Him: "Don't Blow My Cover"

Discussion for article #237424

This entire situation is fucked as all hell.

It reminds me of the “Who’s the Microphone Assassin?” episode of Trailer Park Boys.

“basically blackface”

I see a trend trending . . . . .

“I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” ~MLK 08/28/63

Well, so much for that.

This whole story has made me want to take several people and given them a long and painful life…

Clearly, a disturbed individual.

“The NAACP has stood by Rachel in a statement that said, “One’s racial identity is not a qualifying criteria or disqualifying standard for NAACP leadership.””

No, but dishonesty should be.

Veracity appears not to be a qualifying criteria either.

I know Nellie McKay is not everyone’s cup of tea but this story reminded me of this song “Identity Theft” for some reason…

I read a lot about this yesterday, exploring it more than I should have, but it is intriguing.

First, reading her description of her life for The Easterner (at Eastern Washington U where she taught) seemed way over the top. http://easterneronline.com/30681/eagle-life/professor-interprets-racial-differences/#sthash.K2OulQWR.dpbs

I found her parents to sound pretty reasonable in the HuffPost interview. But they didn’t go into details about their background, so I explored a bit further about whether her parents could be these brutal, religious conservatives.

I found in this article http://www.cdapress.com/news/local_news/article_385adfeb-76f3-5050-98b4-d4bf021c423f.html
that she was home schooled and graduated from the Christian Liberty Academy Satellite School. So yes, it was a more fundamental home she grew up in and maybe there was corporal punishment used. Her father worked for Creation Ministries International and I wish I could unring that bell from looking up their website. They are what it sounds like.

But Rachel says she lived in South Africa. Her parents lived there 4 years with the adopted children (dad with the Creation Ministry) and say she never even visited. That is certainly a fabrication. In the Easterner article, she makes it sound like her siblings were about the same age, but the four black adoptees were small children at her wedding. I haven’t seen anything about other siblings her own age (so far.)

She claims she grew up with her mother and stepfather, clearly not true. She publicly claims that a black man she got to know in civil rights work is her father. Her adopted brother (now 21) lives with her and she calls him her son. Her other son she talks about so much is now 13. One of the other brothers spoke out about her telling him she was going to be black in Spokane and not to blow her cover. I can’t find anything about the adopted girl who she claims had to be sent away. Perhaps this is true. But she got the police board job by claiming to be black, which does matter in them determining what type of representation they have.

Read the first article and then the second, to get an understanding of this woman’s reality.

My opinion is that she assimilated herself into a culture she preferred, took on some of the experiences of her adopted black brother (now her “son”) and others, to enhance her story.

This goes deeper than just passing as black. The woman has mental health issues and no matter how much good she has done for the black community, her lies are a big problem, moving forward.

I think I’m ready to move on.

It is apparent that Dolezal was not at a Chris Rock gig:

“How many of you white people would trade places with me? None of you? That’s—who’s that blonde cracker woman down there? What did you say? You saying that you would trade places with me? Is it because I’m rich? You’d change places with me even if I was poor? Really? You’re one fucked-up cracker.”

Yes, it’s less important how she racially identifies, but more important is if she was doing a good job working for justice. Which I have not seen questioned.

Wasn’t this a movie with Mr. C. Thomas Howell?

her white, Montana-based parents came forward

Why? What was the motivation for the parents to sit in front of a TV camera and drop a dime after what had to have been years of family and cultural rejection?

This article provides some interesting insight into her mental state:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/06/13/the-psychology-of-an-ethnic-fraud-behind-rachel-dolezal-s-invented-persecution.html

Although she seems to have an out of control personality disorder, Dolezal is nonetheless aware of what she is doing and she did not want to be found out. You can see it in her expression in this interview when she realizes the local TV news reporter has her number:

She might never have been caught but she had to keep upping the ante to portray herself as a victim – filing false hate crimes reports to gain the sympathy and attention she craved. She is most definitely mentally disturbed – but not insane. Therefore, she is fully accountable for her lies and actions. I can’t see the NAACP standing by her for long.

Because reporters found them. Were they supposed to lie or go into hiding to avoid inquiries? Their daughter also accused them of being abusers. Should they not be able to defend themselves from such accusations?

Say what you will about Rachel but this black man welcomes her to the tribe, and the things I’ve done in life the risk I took as a young blackman likely makes Sharpton and others look like novices, I’m older and slower now but she did no harm and tried to help her community which is African American so I got her back, I remember Chris Rock saying years ago, that as rich a blackman as he was you’d be hard pressed to find a white man to trade places with him. She may be passing but she’s passing for the right and righteous reasons! Enough said!

Color is a beautiful thing, I know, I know, I know!

Is it working for justice to file FALSE police reports of hate crimes? Her actions undermine the credibility of real victims. She has made the NAACP look like chumps.
