Discussion: Brokers Bill Secret Service Protection As Nifty New ‘Amenity’ At Trump Tower

The Secret Service may occupy a portion of the building but they are under no obligation – and, indeed, wouldn’t be distracted – to provide any security to other residents. In fact, the building becomes more susceptible because of its occupants.

Had I the resources to buy or rent an upscale apartment in Manhattan, likely the nonstop press and frequent protestors outside my door would have me looking elsewhere. This is Manhattan. It has plenty of options for the monied class.

It is not a perk, it is a pain in the ass, unless you don’t want guests.

I suspect the Secret Service will probably contact the brokers and tell them to knock it off – you cannot use their services to a select few tenants as an advertising gimmick, especially since their services are not available to anyone else except the Trumps, White House staff, Congresscritters and the like.

And this is why voting matters.

Ah, one more example of the Trump “Art of the Scam.” (with apologies to Paul Krugman)

So if one was inclined to rent a unit would the renter have to go through some sort of security screening?

@lastroth This is what I’d want to see at the end of the day, so reassuring to know my nest was being protected while I was gone.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said he is requesting up to $35 million from the federal government for expenses the city is incurring protecting Trump Tower, where President-elect Donald Trump resides.

They referred to the tower as “the Most Secure Building in Manhattan,”

…as secure as any building can be when the Trump-triggered nuclear holocaust happens.

Yes, and the White House at least has underground secure facilities in the event of terrorist attack that Trump Tower lacks.

I guess this may somehow make up for the unseen but ever present bullseye on each of the four sides of that same building.

No one could pay me to go near that building, let alone live there, even if I had the means to do so.

Just the fact that he tore down the old Bonwit Teller department store, truly an architectural masterpiece that was built in 1895 and a NY landmark, to build this monument to greed, should deter anyone.

So, NYC is spending about $1 million per day for the increased security presence, and the Secret Service is also ponying up several million to establish themselves there…

And Donald Trump, who has admitted to paying no Federal taxes for years, and who says that not paying taxes is smart, may end up making money off this scheme.

I’m disgusted.

Had I the resources, I would buy an entire floor in Dump Tower and turn it into a homeless shelter. Indeed, I would run the classiest, most terrific soup kitchen Manhattan and the world has ever seen. Moreover, everyone who came would get a coat that doubles as a sleeping bag, complete with an embroidered crest not unlike the one associated with Orange Shitgibbon apparel.

I’d take Metro North in on weekends to help!

And Bonwit’s was a great place to shop, too.

Thankfully, there will be no conflict of interest.

Plus he promised to preserve the gargoyles and other architectural details for one of the museums. He’ll treat the country and the world the same way. Past is prologue
