Discussion: Brokaw Issues Disjointed Twitter Apology For Comments About Hispanics

Well, after all, Tom Brokaw does know a lot about assimilation. He’s been assimilating a bothsiderist asshole for years.

Yes. The rules of holes apply here, Tom.

1 When in one, stop digging
2 Don’t be one.

This doofus was on an MSNBC panel the other day. I forget exactly what he said but it was textbook lazy bothsiderism at its worst. He should enjoy retirement watching Gunsmoke reruns.

When an unwitting fool (Todd) holds dialogs with people who should be at home reading graphic novels (Danielle Pletka, Tom Brokaw), you know it’s time to quit watching that program. MTP is as dead in the water as Brokaw’s current reputation. And what’s this about making sure their kids are speaking English and are getting comfortable in their communities? Please, Mr. Journalism, identify the places where this non-assimilation is going on, because I am surrounded by these folks and I see just the opposite.

It’s good that Brokaw apologized for possibly offending a proud, hot-blooded people. Who knows what they might have done to him otherwise.

In the year 2019, assimilation comments actually don’t compute in reality.

He’s against stereotyping people? Then he needs to learn some facts. I have yet to meet a person who grew up in the US who is not fully fluent in English. Oh wait, there’s the Rump.

I always find it interesting when folks like this apologize for telling us what they really think, rather than apologizing thinking this way in the first place and acknowledging it is wrong.

Chuck got an earful on Twitter when he tweeted McCarthy’s comments on MTP yesterday without adding context.

He made the same comments on Morning Joe a few weeks ago. I guess he needed a larger audience for someone to take notice? It really made him look like a sad, old man, who probably should not go on TV anymore.

The best example being Galena in Marty Robbins’ song, El Paso. People (and songs) like that have always captivated Tom.

Why did TPM leave out the bit about the “brown grandbabies”?

Whoever convinced 70 + year olds that they should all use spellings like “u” for “you” whenever texting or on Twitter because “that’s the style these days” should be given a satire award of some sort.

His ilk should be required to wear ‘use by’ expiration barcode tattoos so networks wouldn’t have to give a second thought about whether to book them or not.

I’m glad he said “Frankly,” because that’s his signature word, and he sounds like a baratone Elmer Fudd when he uses it. That’s the level of fake seriousness this topic is bellowing for.
