Discussion for article #232983
New York Post Headline: “Tom Brokaw wants Brian Williams fired”
Last line of same article: "“I have neither demanded nor suggested Brian be fired,” Brokaw said in an email to The Huffington Post. “His future is up to Brian and NBC News executives.”
Whose the fucking liars peddling misinformation now?
New York Post’s Page Six, huh? Unsourced huh? That’s a Rupert Murdoch rag isn’t it?
You know, I was just reading an article at MediaMatters from yesterday on Scott Walker after reading Josh Marshall’s take on the potential for that Putz for President. It was an article that basically called out the Drudge Report for spiking the ball in Scott Walker’s favor by doing some online polling among its most loyal readers, and then trying to shill it to the rest of the rightwing bubble out there. Drudge even went as far as to use Murdoch as a cheerleader for Bush as a useful foil to describe why Walker is so much more viable as a candidate.

But it wasn’t until I got to the comment section that I could tell this Brian Williams story is truly being fashioned on the right as a cause celebre and being sent out into the online ether by the likes of Drudge wingnuts and baggers, who have long been stuck on that immature asshole’s website. The Drudge followers descended en masse to highjack the thread on Walker at MM by making it all about Brian Williams. That’s hardly a coincidence imo. There is a concerted smear campaign of some sort going on…That’s the best I can tell. Is what Brian Williams did a fireable offense? I’m haven’t a clue…probably not. But this added bullshit makes me believe there are more interests involved in taking him down then just the circumstances that surround the incident he’s described.
Now if only a story about Williams be more about Little Scotty Walker…I think we can call it even.
Tabloid is tabloid. Lets not forget what in one day this story has clearly morphed into.
Brings to mind a great movie, Kirk Douglas’ first great role, “Ace in the Hole” from Billy Wilder.
This movie pretty much says it all about media and reporters. It’s even more relevant today than it was in 1951.

Well, Tom, you overrated old fart who still can’t say the letter “L”, I am demanding that the lying fuck be fired. And I may not have a degree in journalism, but I still have more journalistic integrity in my left nut than you and Williams together have ever had.
Brokaw is a phoney …
People that have no lips scare me.
I sure hope that gasbag doesn’t get a vote on Williams’ fate. Brokaw was the least intellectually curious* anchor that ever hosted a network broadcast.
*flat out stupidest
People that have no lips scare me.
Now that’s funny.
I never cared for Brokaw either. He confuses his arrogance for gravitas.
If lying wa cause for dismissal, FOX would go to black.
It’s the NY Post and CNN…consider those sources.
It happens to the best of people. Give them enough (phony) adulation and money, and they begin to become worse.
As far as anchors in the modern era on network TV go, I always like Peter Jennings best. Too bad he died so young.
I wish it was Brokaw who lied because I cannot stand this goody two-shoes
Let that be a lesson to smokers everywhere
Nah. Others have been doing that for years, and now Tom has internalized that.
HELLO! THIS.
You mean the NYPost/News Corp/Murdoch lied? This is unpossible.
Brokaw is a right wing schmuck and pontificator…he has connections to Murdoch…he wanted Williams fired for sure…Brokaw is an idiot and all his reporting was slanted towards Goopers
This guy ruined NBC news! Not Brian Williams.
Between brokaw, and todd, the network sucks!
