Discussion: Broidy Breaks Off Hush Money Payments, Claims Breach Of Contract

“It could not be more politically worse for the GOP from the standpoint of hypocrisy to have a POTUS who took advantage of Roe v Wade” if they were normal human beings, maybe, but so far they haven’t exactly shied away from being hypocrites about anything.

Notice the timing. This is NOT right shady lawyer’s role came to light (Not Cohen - the other guy) which is the stated reason for Broidy. It IS right after the Kennedy retirement announcement and 4 days nonstop of discussing whether the appointment of a new Justice will lead to over turning Roe V Wade. I have a wild speculation that relates to the scuttlebut to which you are referring. Maybe Broidy thinks something should come to light in the week or so before Trump’s announcement of a SCOTUS nominee.

And here I thought saving a dirty blue dress was gross…

I have little doubt the GOP will use all manner of shameless spin, but the message to women everywhere (especially white women) will be clear: the GOP is a party of hypocrites; rich people will be able to get abortions and keep them secret while the rest of you languish and have no control over your bodies. People have to stay mad and vote.

Isn’t breaching the contract, and thereby releasing her from the agreement, about the best thing he could do? There’s nothing stopping her from telling the whole story after that.

It’s just enough to be racist… it is Hypocrisy that defines the Republican party.

This has been the case for decades. No real news here.

I suppose people really do get it “only for the articles” these days.

Luckily that blue dress could not get pregnant and need an abortion

Clinton won a majority of white women in 1996 and earned a split in 1992 (massive increase from the 3 prior elections) because of one key issue: abortion rights. Since then, white women have largely take the issue for granted and Democrats have struggled to motivate white female voters to vote (especially single women) on this issue. Trump won the white female demographic. That trend should reverse itself now w/abortion rights being a central issue in the court appointment. This scandal, if it becomes revealed, would add a lot of fuel to that trend.

Well, maybe. I can’t puzzle it all out. There’s so much going on that any two things could be a coincidence that just looks significant. Maybe Broidy knows there’s going to be some big blowup in this and he’s getting out in front of it first.

Did somebody forget to repay Broidy or to give him some other return on his investment?

What he is claiming to be a breach is not a breach.

The 'pubs have put themselves between a rock and a hard place on abortion. They claim they want to roll back Roe but, in reality, they need to keep this wedge issue open to drive their so-called evangelical base to the polls year after year, decade after decade.

IF Roe is rolled back, the 'gelicals are satisfied and stop voting. There is no large voting block still interested in gay rights, the horrors perpetrated at the borders are not being celebrated by the majority of Americans, the relentless attacks on healthcare are going to be in demonstrated to the public in October when the 2019 premium rates are made public and gas prices are still going up (yeah, I know that the prez doesn’t control oil prices but the 'pubs have been trained that he does…)

No, the 'pubs need abortion to stay legal so they can run against it.

@katscherger - can you explain how this is not a breach? IANAL…

Avenatti seems to think so.

And Cohen was involved

I’m confused. If Broidy claims breach of contract and stops payments, whether he goes to court or not, doesn’t that void the NDA? And if the NDA is void, doesn’t the porn star get to tell her story uncluttered by any restrictions?

Lawyers, help out here. please.

Maybe Broidy no longer sees any benefit to himself in continuing to carry Trump’s water - a rat leaving a sinking ship. (I can wish, can’t I?)
