Discussion: Brennan: Intel Showed Contacts Between Russian Officials And People Working On Trump Camp

My my look where Brennan is now the new hero.

At least until it’s been hammered on enough to get to ‘everybody knows’.

Maybe the thought was well, Hillary’s probably going to win anyway, even with this meddling? so best not to put it out there too much until afterwards?

McConnell threatened Obama that he would accuse the POTUS of interfering in the election in Hillary’s favor if he released the information to the public. Assuming that Clinton was going to win anyway he kept it quiet so as to avoid a right wing media orgasm of rage. Now why Comey kept it quiet versus releasing the Hillary email crap under pressure from the rogue NY FBI agents will always be a mystery.

President Obama wanted McConnell and Ryan and their Democratic counterparts to issue statements warning about the Russian interference. McConnell told him no and promised to turn it into a political issue if Mr. Obama came forward. So, Obama was stuck between coming forward to alert voters and having it turned into a political football where both sides line up behind the narrative most advantageous in an election in which Clinton was already looking to be cruising to certain victory, or say little and let it play out. There was no good answer, and I don’t think it would’ve made a damn bit of difference in the end.

Agreed. That is huge.

He’s getting his marching orders first.

“the treasonous path”

The Congressional record now has these words. May they live in infamy!

I don’t think I would take my guidance from someone who is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute. Plus I see that a couple months ago Sanchez was saying how unlikely it was that there were any FISA warrants on Team Trump.

Of course there was collusion between the Trump team and the Russians. What were the Trump people and the Russians talking about in their numerous secret contacts? And do you think the ex-CIA director is going to throw around words like “treason” casually with no basis? We don’t know yet how easy it will be to prove this, but given how utterly inept Trump is at covering his tracks I bet it’s right out there in the open. It’s true that we don’t have to prove collusion to have solid grounds to impeach Trump but that’s a different point.

Another crazy nut-job? I think not. That drip drip sound you hear will soon be a running faucet.

This major story didn’t wait until 5:00 PM to break.

One thing to consider here is that collusion is a lower bar than conspiracy. If I keep you appraised of what I’m doing, and you keep me appraised of what you’re doing, and we comment on how some things that have been happening affect our goals, shared or otherwise, that’s not (necessarily) a conspiracy. But it almost certainly is collusion.

I think Comey thought she’d win anyways … which she did of course. We just didn’t count those extra 3 million votes. And quite ironic that the RW machine would’ve screamed for Comey’s head if he released the Russia info before the election. He lost it regardless.

"Brennan noted that such interactions are not in and of themselves suspicious, and are in fact common, "

In other words, like looking for a straw in a haystack.

Holy shit that verbiage!!

Whoops you forgot to add this part:

but the fact that the contacts happened at the very time the CIA was learning about Russian attempts to hack and influence the 2016 election raised his suspicions.

Glad to be able to help!

Yes that’s a good point. Plus collusion includes legal activities which Trump clearly and undeniably DID engage in. So, yes, conspiracy is what needs to be proved. It is a higher bar, but can anyone seriously believe after watching Trump attempting to obstruct justice in front of the whole world that he and his band of inept criminals will have taken great care in covering their tracks? We will see, but as far as I’m concerned the unimpeachable (no pun intended) principle to follow here is that, with Trump, things are never as bad as they appear. They are 100 times worse.

Yes. Very, very, hard, that straw in a haystack thing. Better hope you have a Metaphor Lifeline available.

The nature public hearings is to move slowly, methodically to establish matters of fact before revealing conclusions. Judgments that appear rushed and not based on established fact are subject to challenge in court.

Indeed  It appears my point has sailed over your head
