Well, we need unlikable people in office. Likable people arenāt going to deal with what weāve let the disability bureaucracy become, or with ICE, or with the Rs. But the Rs are the only one of the two parties we have that values unlikability in office, and the Rs and the Ds between them have rigged it so that they are the only two choices if you donāt want to throw your vote away. Not that the Ds are going to let you run as a candidate for even the Michigan legislature if you donāt have money yourself or arenāt a good fundraiser, even if you were likable.
If you still want to help some likable, good at fundraising D to win, or perhaps simply want the R to lose, you can still help them. No money to speak of means that you have some money, and a lot of small donations can add up. For a few years there I did a lot of canvassing, and you donāt have to be likable to do it. Your function is about 90% to be a noodge, to remind people that thereās an election and they need to vote. Even the 10% that might be thought of as āpersuasionā, if only because it involves influencing how people vote, doesnāt involve having a discussion with them that changes their minds. You influence them by example. You have decided to spend some of your free time walking and knocking for the Ds. You think thereās at least some hope of a better tomorrow that can be reached by voting D, and are willing to give up your time to achieve it, so maybe they should at least take the time to vote, and for the side that has people dedicated enough to walk and knock. You just have to be polite and considerate as you walk around knocking, no likability needed, because it is counterproductive to spend much time at any of the doors you knock.

The most effective medical treatments for chronic pain involve non-opioid medications combined with time-intensive, labor intensive, personal attention, in the form of physical therapy and/or chiropractic, acupuncture, osteopathic manipulation, massage, etc. The most effective treatments for substance use disorder, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and any number of other mental health conditions, involve targeted medications plus time-intensive, labor-intensive personal counseling.
I want to know how conflicts will be resolved, between the boss who tells someone on Monday to open tomorrow instead of closing, and the worker whose PT is Tuesday and Friday mornings. A person who jumps every time the state says how high is still going to be denied the best available care.
Iām glad to hear that it only applies to the expansion folks. But. I think you may be optimistic about the ease of filling out the paperwork to meet the exemptions. It all depends on how the rules are implemented, and whether any additional caseworkers are hired to help people navigate the new system. Given a GOP-controlled state government, I am not exactly sanguine.
