Discussion: BREAKING: Judge Denies Manafort's Request To Dismiss Mueller Case In Virginia

Manafort’s lawyers are the worst pasta chefs in the world.

Everything they throw at the wall not only doesn’t stick, it recoils and bites them in the a$$.

al dente [al den-tey, -tee; Italian ahl den-te]
adjective, adverb

  • (especially of pasta) cooked so as not to be too soft; firm to the bite:
  • (especially of legal filings) unfounded and fruitless to the point of being counter-productive

He reminds of late-era Jim Rice. Lots of striking out.

So, I called it. Judge Cranky was looking for a way back and issued this ruling 4 days before the actual hearing.

But I wonder if even a very skilled lawyer could help him.
They’re throwing hail mary’s for sure, but maybe that’s all they’ve got.

So IANAL, but at what point does the judge say enough of this frivolity, let’s get down to cases? Did I see that the hearing is coming soon to a theatre near you (wait for the book)? Friday?

“In sum, because the Special Counsel’s appointment was consistent with both constitutional requirements regarding appointment of officers and statutory requirements governing the authority to conduct criminal litigation on behalf of the United States

Ellis seems to be referencing the ruling in Manafort’s other recent failed motion re: Mueller’s appointment being unconstitutional because he “has no boss.”

That’s also the argument being made by the Concord group (Internet Research Agency) indictment. Judge Cranky gave a bit of a gift to Mueller as he can cite this argument in his response to get that motion to dismiss indictment…dismissed.

He’ll come up with something shiny for the usual suspects (Politico and Axios to chase (watching you also, NYT).

I do think this is the ruling that Manafort and his attorneys were waiting for before deciding on when to bring up cooperating with prosecutors in exchange for a guilty plea. Manafort has to be out of money and benefactors. Any benefactor is going to be looked at by the FBI.

Meh. To little too late I fear. SCOTUS-emboldened neofascist white nationalist Messiah will fire Mueller and the GOP will cover it all up by declaring it all confidential in the name of “national security”. Let the pardon festival commence.

If you’re right about THAT, then it’s also probably the ruling Team Tiki Torch has been waiting for before deciding whether to initiate Pardon Party 2018 and fire Mueller’s ass.

More like Yaz.

Yeah probably so.

I can’t think of another motion Manafort could file to stop the proceedings so things should go forward which always means more pressure on the defendant.

I love ya sniffit, and I really, really, really hope you will be proven goddamn wrong.

I suspect you do, too…

I think Manafort will be doing forward flips and backward flips before too long. Nothing is going his way…
