“What we’ve got to line up are the policies of these white nationalist groups. How do they stand on voting rights? Where do they stand on immigration? And then ask politicians ‘Where do you stand?’ Because if you stand politically and in policy the same place as the white supremacist and the white nationalist stands, then you are engaging in the emboldening of them. And that’s why they’re happy now.
They believe that, it’s not just about statues for them, it’s about policy. And they believe that they have a policy sympathizer in the White House, in Steve Bannon, Miller and others, and throughout the Federal government who can destroy and undermine the progress that has helped us move closer to ‘One Nation Under All.’ This is what this is really about.
…
A lot of people will condemn. I’ve heard Ted Cruz [and] Ryan condemn what happened on Saturday. But have they condemned the way they’ve held up fixing the voting rights act? That’s white supremacy. But have they condemned the way in which they have targeted our immigrant brothers and sisters? That’s a form of racism and white supremacy. And it’s in line with the policy positions of these white nationalists.”
