Discussion: Booker Rejects Potential Trump Impeachment, Says It's Too Early

I already did. And a few others, including Harris and Sanders.

Name a cooperate Dem that isnā€™t singing this tune.

Canā€™t think of any.

Good job.

ā€œUnflatteringā€ is what you say about wearing a paisley shirt with a checkered suit.

Thankfully she did manage to maintain some sense of decorum, and refrained from calling The Presidentā€™s conduct ā€œinappropriateā€ That would be extremely extreme!

Iā€™ll bet theyā€™re getting swamped, too. The Sanders person who answered sounded exhausted.

Itā€™s a tough call, I like Trump being wounded but still lashing out and I really donā€™t want to see Pence settling into the WH, on the other hand opining on Trumpā€™s acts of malfeasance should be talked about continuously not to mention Roger Stoneā€™s upcoming trial and finding out what Assange has to say, so a go slow approach seems best, sort of a death by a thousand cuts.

Well you know, she might approach that edge but Susan wouldnā€™t dream of really looking into the abyss like she should. Sheā€™s going to wind up there.

the problem with that line of thinking is that it leads to the conclusion than ANY impeachment of Trump would be based on politics, and not Trumpā€™s guilt.

Political considerations must be ignored when the decision of whether to initiate the impeachment process is made. If they are not, it validates accusations that Dems are just trying to ā€œoverturn the electionā€ for political reasons.

Well people seem to think this would all be wound up in a week or two from the sound of it. No this would go and go and go. It would probably go right up to the election and I donā€™t see the downside to that.

While conflicted, I see minimal (potential) risk in taking preliminary steps like this.

Momentum is a Big Deal in politics ā€“ and thereā€™s a price to pay for NOT at least tentatively moving forward.

This isnā€™t a binary decision; itā€™s a process of sequential steps, each building on the previous one.

It can be stopped any time if facts warrant it (and in MNSHO, that seems an incredibly unlikely possibility).

The only way Impeachment becomes a runaway train is if public opinion demands it, as momentum builds.

And that would be a good thing.

I agree and I think we public should start demanding it loudly.

What are cooperate Dems? Seems to me that in the Mueller Report, there were more cooperate Republicans than cooperate Dems.

The spell checker is out of control, I mean it. The other day I grazed the wrong letter with a finger edge and suddenly my attempt to type ā€œmore aboutā€ became ā€œmarabout.ā€

I expect to hear from Booker every four years or so.

Iā€™m getting that idea myself.

OT- But I think this story is more important than anything Cory Booker has to say about anything.

We only know the nests survived, no answers on status of the bees inside.

Maybe Donald can go up there to check on those for us?

I am with Josh on this, and most issues. Here is what he said:

I remain in the same place on impeachment ā€“ more an indulgence than a
step forward as long as thereā€™s so much that needs investigating and
Republicans remain in lockstep support of the Presidentā€™s criminal
behavior. I stress what should be obvious: impeachment is no more than
inviting the Republican Senate to remove Trump from office.

Check out the definition of ā€œindulgenceā€.

  1. the action or fact of indulging."indulgence in self-pity"synonyms:satisfaction, satisfying, gratification, gratifying, fulfillment, fulfilling, satiation, appeasement, assuagement, quenching, slaking; accommodation "he squandered his money on the indulgence of all his desires"self-gratification, self-indulgence, overindulgence, overconsumption, intemperance, immoderation, immoderateness, dissipation, dissolution, dissoluteness, debauchery, excess, excessiveness, lack of restraint, prodigality, extravagance, decadence, pleasure-seeking, wantonness, lack of self-control; raresybaritism "he took exercise as an antidote to excess indulgence"pampering, coddling, mollycoddling, cosseting, babying, mothering, nannying; spoiling, humoring, catering to someoneā€™s every whim; partiality
